I am from England: I was born in Stratford upon Avon and have just written a historical detective story, based on true facts about one of the first women, Philippa Prentis, to leave England for the Caribbean. She left from Dartmouth in 1634 and with her went three people who we have traced up to New England and who lived into their 70s. Philippa was born at the very bottom of the heap into a poverty-stricken family near Dartmoor but when she died on 11th August 1683 she was near the top of the heap in the beautiful Caribbean island of Nevis - the island of Lord Nelson, Alexander Hamilton and Princess Diana.
