TWO NEW WORDS FOR THE COMPUTER AGE

Hurray for me!  I have just created two new words for all computer geeks out there in cyberland, gatherland or any other land you may inhabit.

My words are:

1.     ensmall

2.     belittle

Both of these words mean the same thing - to make smaller.

In the upper right hand corner of every computer screen are three little boxes that you can click on to make your image smaller, larger, or disappear altogether.

We already have a word that means 'to make larger'.  It is enlarge.  We don't have a word meaning 'to make smaller'.  What is more logical than the opposite of 'enlarge', namely 'ensmall'.  There are many things in our daily lives that we might want to make smaller - cars, headaches, breast size, stomachs.  I could go on and on.  So I think my new word is quite appropriate.

As to my word 'belittle' there already is such a word.  It means to 'reduce in importance'.  What I have done is to add a second meaning to this little word - namely to make smaller, or littler, as in the sentence 'I must ask the taylor to belittle my pants so that they will fit better'.

I am turning over my newly created words to the public domain.  I hereby revoke any claim to royalties for the use of my words.  Please feel free to use these words in all of you daily communications, written or oral.  Please post sentences in the comment box below to demonstrate exactly how these new words may be used in a practical way.  Try not to be too funny.  This is a serious treatise in lexicography.
