If you could have one piece of technology from any book, television show or movie you've ever seen what would you choose?

For me, it would be a toss up between a replicator from Star Trek.  Then not only would I not have to cook any more (and could have whatever I wanted whenever) the problem of world hunger would be solved too.  But there is a big draw for the holodeck from Star Trek too.  I could take a vacation every night if I wanted to.  I could try tons of different adventures without ever leaving my home.  That would be fabulous!

For my own selfish self I wish I could buy photo shop program :)
I don't know what techs are out there that would help the world. If I were really given the choice I would say I had to do research first. Good question Sarah.

I think it would have to be the replicator. It would save a lot of gas driving to the store.

Neat question, Sarah... For me, it would be a toss up between the transporter, the holodeck or that cool car from the OLD TV series "Love that Bob!" that could be a car, a boat AND an airplane!

Transporter! If we no longer had to drive, and travel was instantaneous we could vacation anywhere, work anywhere. People wouldn't need to live in cities, even. No more fossil fuels. No more traffic congestion. No more post office or UPS. It would revolutionize how and where we work and live.

Nah, I'd rather have a book than a holodeck. I had all these ideas about playing computer games when the kids were little, but nothing quite lives up to laying back on a sofa with a good book.

I would take the teleportation device from the fly -- providing I could get it to work properly and not mix my DNA up with an insects. It would be nice not to have to drive everywhere, especially with the price of gas, but really, I don't want all those icky insect parts!

The holodeck from Star Trek was the first to come to mind, but the transporter would be cool, too.
