God has a brown voice, as soft and full as beer
~ Anne Sexton

It shows when Man create...

when children play...

when Nature prepares for sleep...

Brown abounds before you,
beautiful bountiful brown.
(-: That includes me too, inspite of my icon :-)

The tree trunks and roots are startling in their beauty.
Thanks for this on a dark rainy day in NB Canada.
This has to be your best piece, ever. Possibly one of the most captivating things I've ever read on this site!
===
CC, those windy trees can be found in Aruba... the kinky trees in Curacao... the chocolate on board the cruise ships.
The color brown is this weeks' theme for the group, The Rainbow Connection. It's fun trying to meet the requirements by sorting through my photos!
/skutters off in hopes of catching that error
You've just exploded my heart!
Thank you my friend.
Your examples of brown are stunning.
And, the words that accompany them, breathtaking.
You're just too good for the rest of us to compete with.
We bow to your greatness.
===
Dusty, thank you. It's not hard to take goegeous pictures when the subject matter is always so enormously spectacular.
===
Sue, it's great for a Sunday reading then :-)
===
Sherrie, brown is a good choice for a theme especially at this time of the year!
===
Faith, thank you!
===
Aniko, the first 7 photos were taken in Aruba and Curacao... the tree trunks were closer to home... the landscape bridge, the gazebo and the handmade furniture sculpted from whole tree trunks were on my aunt and uncle's property when I took these pictures on our last trip there... the photo of Siddharta Buddha is from my house here in Illinois (a 3 foot sculpture in my dining room)... the chocolates were 2 different cruises we took... the children and young ladies were on the beaches of St. Maarten and the weeds/plants were from my backyard and vicinity.
===
Sharon, I hope that didn't hurt? :-) Thank YOU!
===
Doyle, Yeah, Brown, Charlie!!! And yes, some Carribean scenes up there...
===
Bob, I knew you'd understand!
===
Lizzie, in the Fashion world...they say brown is the new black. :-)
I am hoping you'd only see it as "sharing", not competing. I am not a photographer by any means... I just learned how to use a point-and-shoot camera recently. I post my pictures here because I enjoy the many pictures that my friends post on Gather and I feel I could reciprocate by showing them what I have, too.
===
Nippy, I took so many pictures of the same trees, I got a crick in my neck. They fascinated me so much! I couldn't stop thinking of the ROOTS of the banyan trees in Florida while looking at the BRANCHES of those trees in Curacao. Amazing!
Then, there were all those Divi-Divi trees in Aruba that only point southwest... because the strong trade winds blow so hard, they are forever bent the way the wind blows. That is why they say one can NEVER get lost in Aruba. One just need to follow where the Divi-Divi tree points... they are as constant as the North Star.
love the photos - beautiful and delicious, my fine feathered smokey strapped upon friend.
===
Dianne, you are too kind! Thank you!
I loved this photo/essay. Came back to say "congratulations".
Congats, my dear! I'm still bowing.
===
Wow, thanks Sherrie!
===
Bob, thank you! I missed the notification from the group and haven't checked the site so, I was not aware.
===
Shannon, thanks!!!
===
Wendy, as I said, I missed the end of the contest and did not get any notification... AND I forgot to check back... I'll go now and look at your photos!
