Noah and friend checking out the tractor.

Thursday, September 18, 2008, I went with my 3 year old grandson and his preschool class on a field trip to an apple orchard. I had done this sort of thing many, many times with my children, but this was my first time going on a field trip as a grandmother. I was a little unsure about how well I would be able to control him in a group, so I put what he calls his "kite" on him. It's the halter that he is wearing in some of the pictures. He likes it, so that makes using it easy. When it became obvious that it was not necessary, I removed it. It was a nice day and we had fun.
The day was a little TOO bright and sunny for Noah's pretty blue eyes.

Noah was so fast that I was unable to get a picture of him actually PICKING an apple.

Enjoying the fruits of his labor.

This orchard had goats. What goats have to do with apples, I never did figure out. Noah liked them, though.

A horn makes a convenient handle to hold a goat still to pet him.

In Noah's opinion, an unattended vehicle is fair game and he WILL attempt to drive it. Huge tractors are no exception!

By the way, this was also Noah's first ride in a school bus. No car seat! Yay!

Did you pick any apples or pet any goats? Please give details.
I picked apples. I passed on the goats. We washed our hands thoroughly after he petted the goats.
I wish I had a photo on this computer of my grandson Oliver driving my old tractor.
Reminds me of my a little of my child hood, except that we had pigs and chickens; not goats.
i had one of those halter/leash set ups when i was a little younger than noah. according to my mama, i liked it at first because i could pretend i was a dog, but after i figured out that it was to keep me from running away from her she couldn't get it on me. enjoy it while noah still likes to wear it!
I went with a bunch of second graders on a bus ride recently and most of them were so frightened because it was their first time. It was hard to get them settled but we finally sang a song to get them more settled :]
