That happened once. She slept on my sofa for 9 weeks, until something new came through.

I made the mistake of helping my best friend in this situation. I got screwed over royally years ago so I will not help anyone anymore because of it. If they are being evicted best to check out why before you help anyone no matter who it is.

Last year we helped a friend who got out of jail( a month in jail) and had no place to go. He stayed here for a week until we found him a place. He had no money at all and nothing to speak of. We helped him get a place, gave him furniture, helped him get a job. He got lazy quit and got kicked out of the place and found a woman(victim) to take him in now so he doesn't have to work. I wouldn't change a thing. I helped a friend in need and the rest was up to him.

I would probably take them in too. It is just the way I am.
My good friend was evicted this spring. I helped her pack up her house and take things to storage. I let her store family photos and some other things that she didn't want to risk to storage at my house.

She has 3 dogs, so she can't stay with us - we have pets ourselves. She's been living in a tent in WVA but a bear tore it up recently so I'm not sure what she's doing. Haven't heard from her in a almost a week. I help her out whenever I can because she's a friend and she'd do the same for me. I'm not sure what she's going to do in the winter, but she has to make those plans soon.

What I've always done in the past, give them a place to live in my home. Share my food with them. Give them rides in my car. Treat them like family. That's what my family has always done. My parents must have done that half a dozen times while I was growing up. But of course, we were poor. I know it's much harder for the well off to share that way because they must be suspicious of people trying to get their money.

In my home things are quite crowded then and the living isn't that comfortable for any of us so they move out as soon as they can.

My best friend always knows he has a place with me if this ever happened...at no charge...until he finds another place or even if he wants to stay permanently. I'd even share my bed with him so he wouldn't have to sleep on my uncomfortable futon. I also know he'd do exactly the same thing for me if I was faced with this situation. That's what best friends are all about.

My brother's friend was evicted at a time I was living with my brother, or I should say my brother was living with me, as everything was in my name because of his credit and I paid most of the bils. We let his friend crash in our spare room for six months. He ate all the groceries I bought, ran up the electric bill, took the gas I bought for the lawn mower and put it in his truck, did not have a job and didn't look for a job. I eventually had to tell him that he couldn't live with us anymore, as I was not able to support him. Finally, I had my brother talk to his parents in order to get him out of our house. Still, if one of my friends was having a problem and needed a place to stay, even Aaron again, I would offer them a place to stay.

I would let them stay with me until they get back on their feet. If they got lazy, I would give them a time limit.

I am not sure what I'd do. I don't really have a best friend, or any real friends at all. I have been seriously taken advantage of before though, so I think before opening my home up I'd have to do some checking on the person, and also I'd probably try to help in every other way first. I just have been burned so many times when trying to help people (and I am way too generous).

What I have always done.. Clear out the spare bedroom and tell them that my family always has a home in my house. I have had two friends who had children move into my house. Yes it can be stressful but come one these are the people that are there for you. Return the favor.

I would do whatever I had to do to help because I know that were the situation reversed she would do the same for me and any other member of my family. Actually she has stayed with me under those circumstances years ago. It brought us closer because a true friend is someone who comes through for you even when your family won't.

I've had plenty of friends move in over the years. For the most part it always worked out well and they didn't over stay their welcome.
