In many ways Israel is a shining exemple of how to deal with corrupt politicians
when politicans dont tell the truth, when they misuse their power
there is a mechanism that controls that , brings the information to the public
and finally removes those leaders who have failed the people
this is how democracy works
As a woman and a mother to a daughter (and two sons) i am especially pleased to see women in leadership positions, women who have earned their positions
Zipi livni , who has won the battle for the leadership of her party, Kadima, in Israel recently and is to replace Prime minister Olmart is a shining exemple
she never competed in beauty competitions,
two boys in the army
and has a profession , she is a lawyer
She has her opinions, and has earned the respect of the people who voted for her
Israel has still not gone to vote for a leader
they are simply removing the last prime minsiter who has had the same lack of popularity as George Bush
still in the middle east democracy progresses somehow
it is still not clear how soon elections will take place
but one thing is clear whenever corruption is uncovered it is confronted and dealt with
not silenced, not made to look different
Zipi Livni supporters will not accuse the opposition of sexism
because that is not the issue
she has nothing to hide , nor be ashamed of
no pregnant teenager, no brother in law fired because of personal vengence
she is a professional leader
Israel is in good hands
I dont think having a woman as a leader is so important that one should choose ANYONE and ignore corruption
there is something about political corruption and lies
they just dont go away unless dealt with
like most problems in life.
Once again Israel is displaying another type of strength
that unfortunately is lacking in American politics
the ability to look at mistakes and flaws and move foreward
"Kadima" means just that, foreward
I hope the USA can also move foreward
beyond racism
i read 40% of democrates have problems with the color of the skin of the candidate
now that is really backwards
The time is getting closer now to elections
is America going to go foreward or backwards?

BTW, have you heard the news? From now on, Russian citizens doesn't need any visa to visit Israel. It would be wonderful to practice my Hebrew a bit and to see all the holy places I've read so much about... I know just a little Hebrew but I definitely do like the language! :-)
Always happy to see you as well - S.
