In ancient Celtic times,
in the lands of Eire,
Faeries flying and jumping on the
backs of green yellow belied frogs
were common sights in gardens
across the land, as butterflies are today.
Not only did they fly on frogs’ backs,
they played tricks on everything
and everybody they could! After playing
their trick or leaving their hidden traps,
they always flew away on the backs of frogs!
This way they escaped with blinding speed.
Little faeries, not 2 inches tall,
all decked out in green or red leotards,
wearing peaked caps chuckling
quietly or singing so softly they
were nigh impossible to hear.
Silly they were, ridiculous, too!
But, gardens seemed to commonly be
filled with these magik creatures in spring
and the waning months during summer.
The best place to find faeries and frogs
was nearly always near a water pond
with big green water lilies in it!
The floating flowers seemed to
both protect and provide the needed
housing for these little friends
of man. Afraid they were of shadows,
even when the shadows or soft sounds
were caused by other faeries.
Faeries in the garden, alone, in rings
or atop jumping frogs in olden times,
some people still try to sneak up on
green frogs and look for little faeries.

Feverish whining…:
Faerieland
And, I used to play with frogs as a kid. What can I say, I was a tomboy!
