Aiden Cole McCarthy was born this evening at 8:09 PM, weighing in at 8 pounds even and measuring 21 inches long. My daughter Elizabeth and I stayed with Judy and Eric throughout the entire labor and delivery process, which was positively amazing.
Judy had plans for an epidural but that never came to fruition. Her labor progressed so quickly that there was no time for anesthesia. Contractions started around 4:15 this afternoon. We were at the hospital by 5PM and at 8:09 Aiden was born. It was pretty amazing to have a first baby that rapidly!

Aidan is a lovely name. Twenty-five years ago I named a baby boy Zachary Aidan.
