My Favorites List - a helpful tip

I've had so many computer problems lately

and when your hard drive goes and all the things

on your computer "disappear" it's such a hassle

to get things put back the way you like them.

.

One thing that I hadn't even thought about

was all the sites I had bookmarked in my Favorites

list. . . . until they were GONE . . . then I thought

about them ALOT as I tried to remember what

they all were!!! - LOL.

.

I save lots of sites in my Favorites folder and

then expect that they'll be there when I need

to just "click and go" from there.  But then I lost

everything when the computer died, and I realized

I had lost some of those sites forever . . . .

well, maybe not "forever" - LOL - but I'm STILL

trying to remember some of them, and trying to

search them out again. . . . all a major PAIN to do.

So now, I'm doing things a little differently.

And I thought I'd share my little "tip".

.

When I find a site I like,

I still bookmark it like I always did,

but I also copy the URL from the address bar,

paste it into an email and send it to myself.

.

And rather than have 50 emails

with just one URL each,

here's what I do. . . .

.

Find site 1. - copy the URL;

                     paste it into an email and send to myself.

Find site 2. - copy the URL; 

                     open the 1st email;

                     select "Forward",

                     paste in the 2nd site's URL

and then forward that email message to myself.

.

Repeat,

repeat,

repeat.

.

You'll end up with an URL index file that's ready

and waiting if you ever have your computer die.

.

And since you're storing the URL for each site.

Your email should store it as a clickable link.

That way if you have computer problems like I've had

recently, when you get back online all you have to do

is access your email,

click on the clickable links,

and then "add to favorites" like you normally would.

VIOLA!

.

In no time at all,

you'll be able to rebuild your Favorites List

and have things back like you had them before.

.

Maybe you're already doing this,

but if not, it's an easy way to keep your bookmarked

sites from totally disappearing. . . .

and it's easier than writing them all down in a notebook

and then typing them all back in a search bar

to get back to them again.

.

And my mind can relax about one thing anyway.

LOL

My favorites will always be easy to find now.
