I had an unopened bag of size 2 diapers that I offered on Freecycle. Someone emailed me and asked what age these were for. Her niece is coming to visit and she wanted to stock up, so her sister could travel light.

You think I would know the answer, but I don't! I can't believe I can't remember when Kyleigh was wearing the size 2 diapers.

Pampers size two are 12 - 18 lbs I believe. So the other brands would probably be about the same.

Mine start at 14 pounds. Can't remember which weight they go up to. My daughter is 2 months old and not in them yet.
12 to 18 is the norm
they still have to cut down preemies for Jeffy who is almost 4 lb but still needs his ventalater so cant come home:(

I know it's 12-18 lbs but I also remember Kyleigh was still wearing those when she was over 20 lbs. The weight really doesn't tell a whole lot... She's really slender so the next size up (Size 3) has too big a waist line for her. Before she left for Taiwan, she was still in size 2-3 and she was 1 year and half old.

I know that my son was a cutie pie, but chunky so we went through diaper sizes fast until 4 and then stayed there for awhile. Sorry I can't help more!

It is really hard to put an age on diaper sizes because babies grow at vastly different rates. The pound guidelines usually are the best thing to go by and as you pointed out even that does not always help. By the way cannot the person who wants them just ask the niece what the baby is currently using?

I always went by the pounds my kids were all over 8 and 9 pounds when they were born. They also grew quickly so I think we were in size two diapers less then a month after they were born. You can't go by age because kids grow at different rates. That is why there are no ages on the diapers they go by pounds.

Kjersti - Yeah that's what I replied - I asked her to ask the parents. They didn't really came back with a "good answer". They just said, "They will fit". I feel like they just wanted the free diapers regardless whether they really fit or not.

I don't think it's just weight - my son was 14 pounds and in size 3 diapers FOREVER. My daughter was 14 pounds and in size 1 diapers! So it's really more of a guideline.

wow, I haven't even seen a diaper in 15 years. I have absolutely no idea what a size two would fit.

Honestly it really varies by children.Some are thinner while others little kids are chunkier.Destiny wasn't in them for awhile.She was in premie's and ones for the longest time.She was still in 2's when we started potty training and switched to easy ups at first.They were a bit big on her yet.
