Cash earners...are you switching back to points now or waiting?

I am trying to decide whether to go ahead and switch back to points now or whether to wait until we have to in January. How about you ? Are you changing back or waiting?

The nice thing about points is that you can actually see them move. Sometimes it seems to take forever to get from one dollar to the next on the cash option.

I don't think you can switch back to points and the PayPal cash/gift card option...

it will happen with the roll-over, but there is no option now...I think people were just lusting after those Target and Starbucks cards...I know that my cash just melts into the checking account.

My roomie was considering switching back, but like Ellie said, I don't think it's possible. I looked around several timed for her, and never found a way to switch between the two.

There's no need in me switching back now, especially considering I don't really want to. It'll happen on its own, so I'll go with it then.

I just cashed in $75 in points to my paypal account and it may take twenty one days. Oddly, when I use paypal to make a purchase, it takes less than twenty one seconds to transfer the money from my account to the seller's.

It took about 4 days for the money to be deposited in my Paypal account...

I don't like PayPal and don't even want to go to that option in January. I get paper checks in the snail mail and I'm happy with that. I usually cash out $200 at a time with no fees taken out. I don't want PayPal keeping part of my money as their 'handling fee' acting as a go between from Gather to my bank. I'm not happy being forced into doing something I don't want, so the only other option I have is leaving Gather altogether.

I will stick with the cash option until the forced change. I want to get the cash in whole as checks. I hate that paypal takes out from my Gather earnings. I have sites that pay me via Mass Pay and PayPal does not take out. I will probably do gift cards after the forced switch, so I still get all of what I think I am getting.

I am like you. But I don't plan on leaving Gather.Espically with all the new gift cards they are offering. I will take the giftcards and not use paypal.

Yes, you can switch back to points if you wish. All you have to do is contact Gather. Gather has already said so.

I like getting checks. So, I will wait until Gather does the switch over to points. I plan on getting cashing out as soon as I get moved sometime next month. I haven't cashed out since June. So, I should have a pretty penny coming.

"Good question Kathryn. Yes! All members now have the option of using their points to purchase a gift card or to purchase a Paypal transfer. Any current cash member who would like to switch to point earnings now should simply send a request to the Support team and we'll take care of that for you.

I have a paypal business account. The first time I sent Gather money to paypal, earlier this year, Paypal did take their fee. When I cashed out after summer pics, it was a larger amount and Paypal did not charge me a fee to receive the money. Maybe they have changed it now so we will not have to pay fees.

Okay, I was without power for 4 days with Ike (the storm). What's this about being forced to go back to points in January? Does that mean that cash option won't be an option anymore? Where can I read about this?

It you look under the Explore tab you will find the article in the right hand column. It is titled Changes to Gathers cash program. It has 231 comments, so it takes a minute or two to load.

Well, I was never one of the cash earners in the first place because I was never active enough here. But now that there's the Paypal cash option, I don't think it really matters anymore since those who only earn points can be paid in cash now if they so desire. I do understand the issue, here, however, as now that that cash option for points earners has been added, it does seem kind of unfair that they would get to choose between gift cards OR cash while cash earners don't have that option. I think cash earners should at least have the option of going back to points - you can redeem your points for PayPal cash now, so it's not like you're losing anything. It's good that they will let you switch back...

Yeah, I've had no idea what's going on......well, I cannot even find the "Rewards" section anywhere here.....ugh! I had it saved to "My Favorites" but somehow disappeared....... I think that having gift cards is a great option!
