I think it was just them. It is still a frequently used phrase.

Yeah, I get the same looks from my kids....after they tell me how old I am. But I am not old. I am only 37.

I'm 21 and I know that phrase. "Hammin' it up for the camera" is still used.

You should of added a few "uhs", "you knows" and a "like totally" to the phrase and maybe they would have understood it better. I write for a living and I am now older than most of the editors. I am horrfied by the language structure. One recently told me people do not use paragraphs anymore they are so out-dated. Another told me never to use semicolons unless it is in an email abbreviation and a third one said the word verdant used to describe a woodland setting was over the head of most readers and that I needed to simplfy the language I used in writing for the general public.

Oh...I'm laughing at Linda G.'s response! I'm sure that adding a few rounds of the "f" word would make it more understandable to them too! How sad is that? I heard a news story recently that talked about how text messaging was really doing a disservice to kids because of all the abbreviations they use. Most kids cannot write in a literate format anymore.

It's so common, I think it was them. My daughter is 14 and she knows what that means.

Wait a minute, you were in a grocery store, I bet that was the problem....they sell hams there don't they?

My nieces who are 6 & 9 knows what that means. It's probly just those kids. If you tell my nieces their a ham they'll start posing for you. The 6 yr old was risking the wrath of uncle trev the other day and calling him a ham. =)
