Gideon had just missed both Thursday and Friday from school and sitting on the cold concrete in the rain and 50 degree temps was just askig for trouble. We decided not to attend the parade for the first time in six years.
Well, we can't just go home, I told Clint. Gideon was looking forward to going to the parade.. but what to do?
We took Gideon to Menard's to play at their playground, then came home to eat. In this time we decided to scout out a place called Seeley Lake that we had never been to. We had no idea what to expect, but boy, was the drive out there scenic. I saw two photos I wish I had been able to snap, but it was along a narrow country road, and Clint really doesn't like stopping there... even long enough for a couple shots. :(
When we got to the lake it was quiet and we were the only ones there. There's such a natural beauty there that shone through the gloomy gray skies.
The lake is fairly small and round in size with a small waterfall to the left that runs off into a creek.
Here's the lake itself. There's a hint of fall foliage seen here as well.

A closer look at that lonely pretty tree dressed for fall.

Left side of the lake.

Right side of the lake.

Another shot of the left side... with a slightly prettier sky.

Peeking through the tall grass.

This is the top of the waterfall.

Peering down at the waterfall.

Clint found this path down to the waterfall, so we took it and explored a bit.

The right side of the waterfall.

The left side.

The bottom of the waterfall near where it must empty to the creek.

Back up to the lake again before heading off.

One last shot with an interesting tree.

The drive home was more scenic than the one out there. We were atop a hill and the views were amazing. Oh, how I wish I could have gotten a few photos of those views.
Along the road were thick trees. You just saw a sea of green with the occasional splash of fall color mixed in, but never did you see anything other than a tree. It was just beautiful. We can only imagine what it'll look like when fall is at it's peak.
Further down the road we saw a horse cart. :)

A bit closer. (Sorry for the poor quality. These were shot through the window.)

The road back.

We plan to return when fall has visited with her pallet of reds, oranges and yellows. Oh, how pretty it'll be at that time.
