Trickle down economics I am sure you all know is give to the "have's" they will invest and buy into the economy and the "have-nots" will benefit also.
Too bad it doesn't work.
This is what really happens.
My husband was the Program Manager/Component Engineer/BOMB Coordinator (this is not as exciting as it sounds you dont get to blow stuff up. Something about building materials and supplies) for an electronics company in Florida. They manufactured the Clapper and that I've fallen and I can't get up Medicalert necklace.
Business is great. The company is getting tax cuts, the workers are getting better insurance. Seems everyone wants to clap on and off and many people have fallen and can't get up.
Then someone gets it into their head to hunt around for cheaper components to build the product. They find them in China. So the quality of the product goes down because of cheaper materials. The price stays the same. The old American supplies are without. And have to start laying people off. Not enough business.
But the tax breaks keep comin.
The company is rolling in dough. The CEO marries a Swedish underwear model. I just threw this in cause its kind of funny. And she is HOT I would have married her too.
But they are still not happy.
Why not look around and see if the clapper can be assembled elsewhere for even less money than the US.
The company settles on a plant in China. China doesn't have those pesky child labor laws or minimum wage laws. Those 5 year olds will work 20 hours a day 7 days a week for $5.
So they lay everyone off. Americans are just so expensive.
They cut to a skeleton crew and open as a distribution center only.
But it seems noone can afford the luxury of clapping to get their lights on and off anymore.
The companies profits take a nosedive.
The economy trickled up.

Very accurate analysis! Trickle down sounded stupid when brought up for the Regan administration. That is about the time that the working class in America started loosing ground and the CEOs started raking in massive increases in their remuneration!

If you are making anything for Wal-Mart consumers, you can pretty much kiss your job goodbye. You are not a productive member of society. You should move to Mexico (or California) where Wal-Mart is considered a quality retailer.
Liberals just don't produce things; they sell imported crap and lie about its quality until they convince Americans to act against their own self interest. Trickle down works if the product is something made by Conservative Americans who still buy and make quality products. if it's Union, Wal-Mart, 3rd world import, it's crap, but it's the disposable economy Liberals enjoy.
You can take any crappy product, pump enough money into advertising, and make Liberals believe it's unique. Look at Sham-WOW, for $20 plus shipping, you can buy the same lousy crap Wal-Mart sells for $10 bucks.
Pure marketing, Liberals even have a Sham-WOW Presidential Candidate. Cost twice as much for the same lousy crap.

Explain to me, if this is actually true, why WalMart does so much better in sales in the Southern and MidWestern states and not so well in states like my state of CT with the highest per capita income, where most people are liberals, 'cuz they be so damned well ejucated.

High income shuns Wal-Mart, same here in Boulder Colorado, where Liberals flock. In the poor liberal, (not actually Liberal, they have just been brainwashed into beliving Liberals support them) neighborhoods, like Aurora (Blue as it gets) Wal-Mart is HUGE. In Erie, (red island in a Urban Sea) Wal-mart whent out of business.
Can't buy a quality gas can in Denver, because every small business tyhinks it has to sell the same crappy import Wal-Mart carries. In Erie, you can still get a good quality metal one.

This is one of the hallmarks of being a 'conservative', Ron. They rejoice in attacking the 'college educated' and 'intellectuals' in the US. The really funny thing is, their leaders play this card to 'inspire' their constituents and get them all riled up against those 'smart liberals', all the while sending their own children to the top private prep schools [run by smart liberals] and Ivy League colleges [also run by liberals].
What it really come down to is this:
Republican leadership is expert at using the lower-economic, poorly educated masses to their own advantage. They get them all riled up against education and 'liberal' thought so that they will get both support now, and support in the future. The future support comes from their not wanting to fund good public education, so the masses that they manipulate will ALWAYS remain ignorant and "rileable". They will never rise above their current state of cluelessness, never encourage their own children to get a college education and actually rise up in economic class and power. As long as Republicans can keep a large percentage of the American population under-educated and fearful of "intellectuals" and good education, then they can manipulate them and retain power.
Who has the real power in this country? The boy behind the fry-o-later in Mickie D's? Or, the CEO's of business and industry, all of whom have multiple college degrees and were educated at the top institutions in this country?
