We are wronged by people daily,
but to not forgive is unconscionable.
The Universal King had died for all;
for in eternity's view, we're pardonable.
He has given absolute amnesty
to everyone who has accepted Him.
Make no mistake about this unmerited immunity -
Grace's favor (over the course of Life) wears thin.
Death is inevitable, and our spirits
this mortal frame will leave;
so take advantage of God's condonation
to be granted a heavenly reprieve.
Human lives hang in limbo
under the penalty of death;
speak kindly of others and refrain...
From another wasted breath.

Condonation is a real word: you can see more about it at: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book=Dictionary&va=condonation
Since I believe in the Christ's resurrection, His death is in the past tense.

I just read your comment to Marilyn on healing and followed you here to see what kind of critter you were. :)
It's about human nature.
When I learn to forgive, I feel better.
A better person for it.

Its like walking through the jungle. When a mouse squeaks at you from the bushes. You smille and ignore him. But if a mountain lion roars at you, pay attention and find ways to dismiss her presence and protect yourself. Interesting attitude.
I have been always in need of the spirit of forgiveness but I would have been better off living in a world where we didn't have to forgive. I say this because nobody should have to forgive if we were, in the beginning, taught to be LOVING in the first place. If we were given the ability to LOVE over hate we would never have to forgive. But we must continue to live in a world of thoughts of when will we be at war or feeling sorry for those who are killed in battle or mourning for those of our loved ones who are killed during and after being in battle.
This is a very good poem but I wished that we could come together and LOVE each other and begin to care about the lives of not only our family who are close but those who live in the countries not connected to us but REALLY CONNECTED TO US through HUMANITY...
GOD BLESS YOU ALL
Yes we do have to be careful what we say,
because words once spoken, can not be taken back
and stay in our universe.
When we ask for forgiveness with sincerity,
this erases our hurtful words.
Humankind will always have reasons to forgive since we were born sinners and are in need of forgiveness from our Father in heaven as well as others that we will come in contact with during our lifetimes. God and Jesus Christ are the only ones that need no forgiveness as they have and never will be at fault for anything.
It is a sad thing , for sin to be so evident in this world...but sin leads us to the cross; to the feet of Jesus, the very best place to be. John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, (you and me) He gave His only begotten Son, so that whosoever would believe in Him, will not perish (spend eternity in hell) but have everlasting life."
I agree with you, especially on God's great forgiveness. But as you said, we're not perfect; we can also refrain sometimes from forgiving others, yet we know it would've been nicer to forgive.. but my friend, not everybody desrves our forgiveness..what about those who betray you& may be don't even care to appologize, should I forgive them also, even though they don't consider themselves having done any wrong?!
nice job anyway..
AS WE FORGIVE those who trespass against us".
It is very clear - God forgives us to the extent we forgive others
This thread runs through every teaching of Jesus
You must forgive as well as repent if you want to be saved.
So many hate the sin and the sinner too
considering them wrong-doers: that will never do!
Turn the other cheek or the path to hell shall be paved
with your bad intentions towards those who wronged you.
Sometimes we never forget and sometimes speaking it out of being, for others, is how forgiveness begins.
