Product Review: Ore-Ida Steam n' Mash

As a member of She Speaks I get new products to try for free and then review them.  My first test product with She Speaks is

I received 1 free cuopon for 1 bag of potatoes.  I also received 10 coupons for $1. off for my friends & family;.plus one really nice Potatoe Masher.  Since I love mashed potatoes, But I am not a big fan of making them, this product seemed made for me.

Ore-Ida, a Heinz brand, has launched Steam n' Mash .  The new line of frozen potato products is available in four varieties-Cut Russet, Garlic Seasoned, Three Cheese and Sweet Potatoes- and capitalizes on the growing popularity of steam-in-bag packaging in the frozen food category.

They are packaged in a standup pouch produced by Alcan Packaging.  The microwaveable bag has a proprietary laminated structure with in-register laser venting that is designed to help the pouch stand up to the high-heat levels attained during the 10-min cooking process.

Steam n' Mash combines 100% real potatoes with steam technology for homemade mashed potatoes that are easy enough to make every day. Ore-Ida Steam n' Mash potatoes come in four, great-tasting varieties and you can find them in the freezer section of your favorite grocery store.

This innovative new product eliminates the time-consuming work of scrubbing, peeling, and chopping potatoes. You simply steam the bag of potatoes in the microwave for 10 minutes then let them rest for 2 additional minutes and then add what you want to customize the product.

I am a a Potato Purist. I like my mashed potatoes smooth and I don't add too many ingredients because I relish the real, potato-y taste. I eat my mashed potatoes first because they're a dish best served hot and steamy and... who am I kidding? I just can't wait, for my mashed potatoes!

Bottom Line :  I would buy them so that I have them on hand in a pinch. I would use them as an easy to cook option if I am running short of time or when I have to feed my family when I am sick, so that I can get back to bed quicker.  They also can be used by a hungry teenager very quickly, but I like my real potatoes better.
