How do you keep up?

Renita, your good contacts and good friends will not hold you to 'comment for comment'. No one can really have a lot of contacts and keep that up. We all do what we can. A lot of us only view, which gives a point to each, and they do not have time to comment. So the good gatherites do what they can, get to who they can, try to get to each of their friends every day or two or three days, and are just appreciative for the comments they get in return! {{HUGS}} to you. Know you never have to worry about that from me!

I just try to keep up with my friends and connections. It would take me a lot more hours than I am willing to put in.

I try to semi-regularly comment back to people who at least semi-regularly comment to me, but since the summerpics insanity I've gotten a bit more ruthless -- if someone frequently puts out articles/photos (and doesn't at least occasionally comment on mine) I may only comment on those posts which genuinely interest me.

It IS hard to keep up. But just as I only expect my mother to remember my birthday, I also only expect certain of my friends here to comment on my schtuff.

I don't do comment for comment. I come to Gather, open up the last several pages in my friend feed (open in tabs, do several sets like this)....and then comment on things that I feel compelled to comment on.

Thanks everyone! I feel better now. I've seen so many people commenting on how they will comment in return for comments. While I appreciate the sentiment, I think it's impossible to expect that of people.

I agree with Pamela O. I do try to reciprocate. I call it ketchup. I just click on the icon of the person commenting on my article and go to their posts. I write a lot and get about 30 comments per article. I try to reciprocate within a week. I had a stroke June 6 affecting my right side and I'm right handed. It sometimes takes me up to a week to reciprocate. I don't feel I have to read what the person spotlights. I read what looks interesting.

One thing I found out by accident is that I get a lot of points from commenting on other people's articles. About a month ago I wrote a light humor piece. About 20 people commented on it and I made somewhere between 40 - 50 comments. For some reason I had noticed my points. I gained 63 points that day and the only possible explanation was it was from my comments to other people's articles.
