Fall is just around the corner...

...and I'm looking forward to it. I sat down with my children yesterday and we talked about our favorite parts of autumn. Warm sweaters, cold, clear days, hot apple cider, squash soup, trips to the pumpkin patch, apple pie and thick stews for chilly days. We discussed orange and red and yellow leaves as well as blustery winds. I think we all got a little excited for the new season to arrive. What's your favorite part of fall?

Still, Hockey is cool.
I love when the air grows slightly crisp, and the smell of burning leaves. I love Halloween, and the vivid colors that fill the air. I hate the Winter that follows. ;)

I've noticed a few trees have started to turn around here, but not many yet. I can't wait for a nice fall day when the kids are in school, so I can go and take some fall pictures!
William, I agree- cloud dandruff sucks. :(

I think there will be a lot of anxiety this fall. Not only the election - but the winter heating bills to come. Yikes.

I will try to enjoy the leaves.

I am not a lover of fall. I've been fortunate to live long enough to have been thorough many winters. I dislike winters so fall is like a precursor to winter to me.

However........... having said that I do find sunny October days with no humidity and not a cloud in the sky rather pleasant. :-)

I love the beautiful fall colors of the Pacific Northwest. I love the smell of wood burning in fireplaces, and the taste of soup simmered all day on the stove. But I DO NOT like having to put away my shorts and flip flops, and go back to being confined in long pants and tennis shoes.

I am an exiled Yankee from the tax hell of Maine so Fall for me is mainly memories. Here in the South, fall just means the yellow jackets and mosquitoes have died back for awhile. The cold just tempts you but never quite seems to touch NE. Never mind the dull colors of fall here....

Fall in beautiful here in Door County and people come from miles away to enjoy the colors, plus each village has a festival in the fall so any weekend you can find one. Another great thing about fall this far north is that the nights are longer so, unlike summer, you don't have to stay up until almost midnight to enjoy the night sky. Of course we're far enough from light pollution that we can actually SEE the Milky Way. I don't usually mount my snow plow until 8 days before Thanksgiving. When we have a blizzard I enjoy crashing and bashing through the snow drifts while Barb enjoys holing up, storing water in case the power goes out, and cooking.
Nice composition on the leaf photo. Sometimes the simple is the most striking. Thanks for sharing.

I know fall is here because we need to rake our leaves already. I just want to have some summer. I think we just skipped over summer this year. :(
