Sarah Palin, in the Charlie Gibson interview, commenting on Obama's declining to pick Hillary Clinton as running mate:
"I think he's regretting not picking her now, I do. What determination and grit and even grace through some tough shots that were fired her way. She handled those well."
When the Alaska governor first hit the trail after being named John McCain's running mate, she made remarks at campaign events praising the New York senator, though she stopped making the comments after drawing consistently negative reactions from GOP crowds. It is challenging to have it both ways. Tough to hate everything that Hillary Clinton stands for, every last policy that she has ever supported, yet try to coax a few dozen of her supporters to cross party lines for you just because you wear a skirt.
In fact, Sarah, you can probably thank Obama's rivalry with Hillary Clinton for your new job. That's right: if Obama had actually picked Clinton as runing mate, there is NO WAY that you would now be McCain's running mate. McCain retained the privilege of being the last guy to select a running mate. He had a list in his pocket. When Biden was named instead of Hillary, your name suddenly went to the top of the list.
Would you like to know what Sarah Palin really thinks about Hillary Clinton? Okay, consider this statement from back in the primariy season:
"When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism, or maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'Man, that doesn't do us any good, women in politics, or women in general, trying to progress in this country,' "
Yup, Palin sees Clinton as a whiner. She also sees her as a tree hugger, a socialist, a femi-nazi, and a baby killer. Just thought you would like to know. About that whiner thing? Sarah Palin refuses to answer questions from reporters, and the McCain camp hides her from them, clinging to the excuse that reporters are out to crucify a woman who has descrbed herself as a pit bull. Funny how things change in politics.

At least Obama made his own pick and was not ordered who to pick like McCain was.
But that is just it. She ISN'T a nice lady. She's a fraud. She's friendly so long as you agree with her 100%. But if she so much as smells that you might not be...eh hem...LOYAL to her agenda, you are gone. When she became mayor, she fired everyone and told them to reapply for their jobs as a test of loyalty. When she became governor, she fired a bunch of people she felt we not loyal to her. Palin doesn't care who is best qualified for any job. She only wants to be surrounded by "yes men" who will tell her how great she is.
Fact--she did fire her town librarian because she felt the librarian did not "support her." This firing came on the heels of three separate queries regarding how the librarian would feel if Palin asked her to censor books. As per Palin, it was merely a "hypothetical question" regarding how the librarian would support her administration's agenda. Please tell me what agenda involves censoring books?
Fact: The town of Wasilla had zero debt when Palin was elected. When she left office it had $22,000,000 in debt.
Fact: She did in fact bring ethics charges against a fellow Republican for using his government computer to send out political campaign e-mails. Unfortunately, she recently admitted to doing THE SAME THING when mayor.
I could go on, but you won't really care. I don't deal in hate. I deal in reality. And the reality is McCain/Palin are not what is best for this country by any stretch.
Actually Palin claimed to visit Iraq, and I understand that she spent a few minutes in an uninhabited part of the country 1/4 mile from the Kuwait border. Technically true, but a fib in practical terms.
Is America honestly going to elect a war monger based on someone's invocation of that word from the pulpit that we are on a mission from God in Iraq, or because she has breasts?
Should then Obama get some implants then, and come back as a stunning, cross-dressed woman for people to realize he likely will attract to the Office of the President of the United States exactly the creative and compassionate minds that can help resolve the mess Reagan---> to Bush & Co, Inc. have wreaked on America, and the world?
Come on! Wake up already, America!
This morning the BBC News stated that America is on the brink of the worst banking disaster since the Great Depression!
Wanna see a real dominoes effect?
elect McCain-Pain
I'm royally pissed this morning, as I go into my workday on the other side of the big pond. Pissed because I care so much about America & its people and the eminent destruction of +230 years of some of the greatest and most compassionate political minds to have graced this planet and created one of the most beautiful and bravest nations in recorded history.
You backed up the "whiner" reference with a quote.......
How 'bout doing the same for the "tree hugger, socialist, femi-nazi, and baby killer" accusations??
Hey how bout Sarah..the one that loves god...if a girl gets raped in her town...you get to pay for your own rape kit...whatta gal!
I have heard from the far right she is a woman of god...really? So God is cool with the lying thing?
Oh, and I am pretty neutral in the race right now, but am starting to lean towards the Republicans for the first time in my life. "By their enemies shall you know them," and all that.

If this doesn't bring you back to the left, nothing will.
Feminists don't vote for candidates just because they have a vagina. They vote for candidates that have the best interests of the country at heart. if you aree hearing venom, it is because many of us feel insulted that McCain figured he could select Hillary's polar opposite as a running mate, and women who supported Hillary would completely abandoned their philosophical beliefs.
Don't make voting decisions based on blogs. Decide what issues are important to you. Then go to votesmart.org and see how the candidates have voted on those issues. Ultimately, the only intelligent way to make a choice is to actually find out what the candidates have done.
Amen to that! Sarah Palin is head and shoulders above Hillary without a doubt.... and Sarah Palin didn't have Bill Clinton's shoulders to stand on to get where she is. Sarah is a self made woman! Hillary ran for senator AFTER Bill had two terms in the White House. Big difference there bucko!
For once we fully agree. I prefer people make informed choices -- whatever they may be. Going to DailyKos to get your 'facts' is silly.

America not only deserves the best and brightest, it must have it to survive...
We cannot afford a Republican President, especially with virtually all media this morning stating that America is on the brink of the worst banking collapse since Black Thursday, October 28, 1929 and the Great Depression
When Palin took over as mayor of Wasilla (2000 census: 5,469), the city of had no long term debt, but when she left office, it had become $20 million.
Consistently since the 2nd World War, Republican presidents - strikingly also with Reagan - have outspent and out-borrowed Democratic presidents three to one! (whitehouse.org) In 2002, Bush out-borrowed and outspent Clinton's last year in office 23 to 1 !!!!
OK, we had a 9-11, but I am afraid to say that I agree with Alan Greenspan, that the whole wool-over-the-eyes Bush Administration response to that had absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with national security but only to do with OIL and a few investors in or near Pennsylvania Ave who have gotten stinking rich on bankrupting America, and now ALL of America's allies are facing a banking crisis due to the *Rocks* in America that have crumbled.
The final 2 years of Bush's total borrowing has contentious figures, but it looks like Bush has bankrupted America, with China actually owning a great deal of that debt. This is the strategy McCain not only wishes to continue but actually wishes to expand on.
The worst for America, though, is that it will be our children who owe that debt to China and elsewhere... if we even will survive (in the event of enough stupid people voting for McCain simply due to an airhead that believes dinosaurs roamed the Earth alongside Abraham and Moses 4000 years ago)
Wow. I am starting to think that the guys in the mortgage industry who bankrupted our finance sector by handing money to people with no prospect of repayment were economic geniuses compared to McCain.
Palin believes that the resources of Alaska were put there by God entirely to make the citizens of the USA and especially Alaska rich. Clinton believes otherwise. Clinton believes that it takes a village to raise a child. Palin clearly believes that she can raise the entire village's kids herself. Palin is quite ferocious in her opposition to abortion even in cases of rape or incest. Clinton is on the record disliking abortion but defending a woman's legal right to it. Femi-nazi? I feel pretty sure of that one too, but it may be harder to prove.
Oh come one Berf, do you actually think that Palin likes Clinton? Do their obvious differences even need to be documented?
you numb o skull
