I would like to say thank you to all of you who thought about me during these crazy hurricanes. I appreciate your thoughts and prayers very much. I also want to thank everyone who came to Franklin to help the town in anyway. Those hurricanes can take their toll. I've actually begun calling them Himacanes. All is well at my house except for trees and branches. My house lost some ceiling tiles and roof shingles and I lost sleep but other than that, we fared well. There was some flooding in different areas of town. I will photograph more of them tomorrow. Above are some line folks from Canada. I haven't spoken to them yet but I will eventually. They fly the Canadian flag on their truck!
Blessings to all and my thoughts and prayers to those who suffered in any way during Hurricanes Gustav and Ike. Salud

We just had rain & some gusty high winds here in E. Texas.
I remember when we lived in South Carolina, the evacuations became somewhat commonplace and locals would sometimes "ride it out." I remember when my parents boarded up the screen porch, windows and doors, and we huddled in the house while the ocean got pewter gray and heaved like molten lead with white froth. It was scary but somehow glorious. But the aftermath surely was not. The next time and after that , we always went inland to Charleston...
I am so happy that you and yours are safe...
Heard from my friend, Norma, near Houston yesterday and that was a relief. She lives very rural and is on oxygen. They still are having problems as she has a limited amt of oxygen and their cars are sunk in mud, so unable to get out.
Awww Miz Jessie - I know you were girl but you know me - I love the dramatic weather and I know it's hurricane season and I have a choice but I do love being here - blessings
Patricia - oh I love your description of the ocean! Now, you would have a problem. Unfortunately, we only have one barrier island left - Grand Isle - the others are sinking even faster - well, I won't go into the details here but hurricanes will be more and more vicious as time goes on and effect more of the east side of the U.S. No one can avoid them or tornados but that's the overhead of life! Thanks for dropping by!

Tornadoes and I are old friends, the ozone, the power building and the heavens colliding.
Happy you're safe, somehow I knew you would be. I would have sent you power but I have a feeling you have enough to go around girlfriend.
Salud.

Thank the Canadians for us all, as well. Yea, Canada!
Glad you are good!
We still have over a million homes without power, the Governor declared all of Ohio is in a state of emergency!
Crazy like a loon, I say.
stay well, my friend... sending lots of love and hugs to you... Salud...
Blessings...

I'm glad you are OK. Stay happy.
Just kidding. I am glad to know that you are ok, I was worried about you!
I have been in 100 mile an hour wind. It is certainly something to remember. Here in Kansas I've seen a treacherous tornado. Ran from it in my car. Saw the roofs swirling in the air but have never been in one. Just watching that long white tale suck itself into the ground until it became a black tower with swirling debris was as close as I ever want to get.
God bless you and yours...
