Sly Stone: as talented as Stevie Wonder?

Sly Stone and Stevie Wonder are both extremely talented multi-instrumentalists and songwriters and both have released classic albums and songs in their time. However, Stevie always seems to get the lion's share of accolades for his work. Of course, Sly is recognized for his talent as well but not to the same extent as Stevie. I think both are equally talented, but Stevie seems to be more respected among the two. Maybe it was because of Sly's drug addiction and his early career burn-out because of it. However, there have been other musicians whose careers were thrown off course due to drug addiction but still remained respected, for example Ray Charles. Your thoughts.

Ken, Stevie Wonder has had so many more albums than Sly! I think that's one of the reasons he's still so popular...........

Katrina, true, Stevie's really prolific, especially during the '70s when he recorded classic after classic. On the other hand, Sly's output slowed down considerably during the mid '70s. His last great album in my view was Fresh, which he released in 1973.
