Politics over a few glasses of wine.

I went over to my friends house, and had a few glasses of wine. There was a diverse group of people over there.  A black man in his 30's who's a deep thinker and rather smart and intuitive.  We had a guy from Iran who is also a deep thinker and someone who I love to talk to and debate with after a few glasses of wine.  Then we had me, and two other white girls about my age.  We started talking about politics and we talked about some interesting stuff. Here's a few things I'd like to get your opinion on.  I think they are thoughts to ponder.

• Our system is close to becoming a monarchy.  If Hillary would of became president, we would of had Bush, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Clinton.  Isn't that some form of a monarchy? But she is a woman and in my opinon nobody was ready for a woman as president.  I think there would be a bunch of old men around getting all stressed out when they watch the news. At any rate, one qustion we came across is if Hillary would of been a male Clinton...some sort of male relative...do you think "he" would of become president? Don't you think in some aspect he would of had a great chance?

• Most of us have seen the movie "Loose Change." The conspirecy theory that the government pulled 9-11. That it was some business deal between the two countries.  In fact, my husband is watching TV behind me, and right now (which is very ironic) he's watching the new release "Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?" Maybe some of you have seen it. I wish I would of paid more attention to what they were saying to bring it into the conversation.  But back to the original conversation.  The guy from Iran believes it was a business deal.  All about money. We've all seen that picture of Bush and Osama shaking hands.  And do I need to even bring in the word "oil"? So thinking on that and the idea of us heading into a monarchy, where are we headed as a country? Back when we had presidents like Washington and Lincoln, we were pure as a country.  We aren't really so pure anymore. I think most people would agree that we're headed in a very unknown and scary direction.  Basically one beyond our control.

I guess those were the two most major points that stick out, but I would like to know your thoughts on these subjects.  I just thought it was an interesting conversation coming from a diverse group of people.
