I saw her on ABC news last night when she did not know what the Bush Doctrine was. She got an angry look on her face when he asked her a question about it the second time after he explained it to her.

I haven't been watching the interviews. I generally avoid watching the news. I don't have my "head in the sand." I think that her "support base" will not be dissuaded even if she is unprepared, which people tell me that she isn't.

It was very telling and scary to think she could be a heart-beat away from the presidency.

I'm going to watch 20/20 tonight for fun. I'm already disgusted with McCain so I don't need any further fuel to that fire, but I'm sick of being disgusted with Obama, so this will just shift my focus again for awhile.

It pained me to watch it,but I did. She's not to my liking at all.

That is funny she did not know what the Bush Doctorine was... Who does know? No one knows. If you ask any political Reporter, they will all have a different answer. So how could she know without Charlie letting her know which view he was basing from.

I've heard many people say that the question about Bush "doctrine" would have stumped anyone. "About what, Charlie?" was the perfect answer.

I saw enough of it to know she spoke just the opposite of what my concerns are.

It's so broad a question, and it encompasses so many national security issues. It was meant to stump her. My mother and I have had actual arguments resulting in our not speaking for days after talking about Charlie Gibson. She loves the guy and I can't write what I think about him on an article that isn't flagged for adult content.

Gibson asked her once to give him a simple yes or no answer about one of the questions, but even then she gave what seemed to be a staged reply.

I think that the honeymoon period for McCain and Palin will be ending soon. After her interview with Gibson and McCain's grilling on The View today, they aren't looking too good. Add to this all of their horrible attack ads which are outright LIES...and surely people's eyes will be opened.

It was announced on the news tonight that the Vice Presidential debate will be Oct.8 ( I BELIEVE that's the correct day,....but double check to make sure). That should be interesting as well..

I watched tonight again and I thought she did fine. I noticed, though, that Charlie frowned quite a bit. The women who helped analyze afterwards didn't think she did badly.

She put the record straight, if anyone cares. She did not ban books or even have a list. She didn't fire or try to fire the librarian. There were some other things, but I forget all the crazy lies the Dems have been saying she said and did.

She is deceptive, lacks sincerity in her body language and in my opinion a flat out liar. Sorry to be so harsh, but enough of this charade. She's not even close to being capable of leading our country. I would prefer Ron Paul, but if the election is close I will vote for Obama to keep our country safe. Palin is a scripted lightweight who can't get her facts straight and to have her a heartbeat away makes me shudder!

Watching Palin's First Interview

It is really hard to know, because it has never been set down. It is not something like the Monroe Doctrine, where that was written down. The "Bush Doctrine" is not a set idea but more of a pholosophy?
"The first usage of the term may have been when conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer used the term in February 2001 to refer to the president's unilateral approach to national missile defense well before September 11th."
Wether it is an actual idea or a term given by the media is not overly clear.
The "Bush Doctrine" was never enacted into law. Which again questions if this was a real idea or just someone's notion, due to all other Doctorines, Powell, Truman, and Clinton, as examples were all made into laws.
"The main elements of one Bush Doctrine were delineated in a National Security Council document, National Security Strategy of the United States, published on September 20, 2002."
This statement just says that the main element of this questionable Doctorin was used as part of a strategy, for dealing with the threats from Trerrorist attacks. BUt again, this is a writer's observation, and not a actual documented statement.
So for Palin to have been able to answer Gibson's question, he would have had to define it so that she knew what version he meant by his question. Her answer in responce to a very open trick question, I think was good, and as good as anyone could have with the limitations presented.

You see you passed the test. Palin didn't she was caught off guard it was out of her scripted interview. The presidents role isn't scripted. As a result, yes it is very telling and sad.

That's quite a stretch Dan. As Nanina said it, you've passed, you know what the Bush doctrine is and so do most people that have been paying attention. Palin apparently didn't know.

I don't think the "Bush Doctrine" question should have been hard for someone who's supposed to be an expert on foreign policy. (Yup, if you run for VP on a major party ticket you should be well informed about foreign policy.) Palin obviously had never heard the phrase. She didn't come across as intelligent or well prepared to me. I suspect that her fans thought she was great.

It concerns me that my liberal friends are not concerned by the obvious, heavy handed bias which they display toward Palin. I'm not thrilled that she is a creationist - but the question Charlie asked about the Bush doctrine - was so broad and oversized - I don't think that question can be answered in sound bite. I also note that Palin's remarks are edited on replay to emphasize anything that sounds like a mistake.
My liberal friends fail to notice that NBC is owned by GE which is a major defense contractor. I was serioiusly voting Obama but the treatment of Palin makes me stop and think again.

Marilyn...McCain's attack ads on Obama are filled with lies and distortions. Do a search with the words McCain's Lies and you will see what I am talking about.

The ladies on The View confronted McCain about these lies during a show last week, and he was quite uncomfortable...and he should be. I saw a speech made by McCain on April 14th of this year talking about how he wants this to be a campaign that does not have negativity. Well, his ads are proof that he has changed his mind.

Obama has tried to keep to the high road, but McCain's ads are forcing him to attack back in a like manner. The only difference I can see is that Obama's ads about McCain are actually true.

Al-Queda sure knows the Bush- doctrine.

Yes, and they find it hysterical that Bush is still wasting billions of dollars in a country THEY NEVER HAD CONTROL OF while they continued to reinforce themselves on the opium farmers in Afganistan. Yep, I am sure they know the doctrine too well. They print comics about it to share with new recruits.

And now we can all breathe a big sigh of relief!
