It simply isn't possible to overstate how offensive this woman is. Anyone who kills anything from a helicopter (calling this hunting is an insult to hunters) should be drawn and quartered.
Thanks for posting, Jan! This is one of the best pieces I've read, and basically says it all, and says it very well. Scary. I work with a lot of Russia experts and linguists, and you can imagine the topic of conversation today, about Palin suggesting we invade Russia! What a moron -- a very dangerous one. And so much like Bush, too! Reflexive, impulsive, and decisive, without having any judgment or intelligence to back it up.

I agree with Ms Ensler. I once had respect for John McCain, but picking Sara Palin shows lack of good leadership judgment. In my opinion, she's a two faced liar.
She is a two-faced liar, and she cares only about herself - interesting that Romney was not chosen -partly because he was LDS, partly because of bad blood and partly because he was not a woman - but Palin's girlhood was in Idaho and the West is full of fundamentalists of various types. She is a real selfish and crazy person; killing wolves from airplanes, offering a 150 dollar bounty for a severed leg, enacting legislation to make it easier to hunt wolves - drill, drill, drill - everything she stands for is against human rights, woman's rights. We will never recover. And we would be so far entrenched in World War III, rapidly approaching us.
Unfortunately, even more horrifying than this woman, is that there are LEGIONS of MORONS who think she is better than sliced bread, and many of these imbeciles are here on Gather. The real tragedy here is that the ones who should really be reading this won't. I strongly fear that we are all doomed.
This was a great article. I find it so annoying that so many people see her as refreshing because of her youth. I find her as refreshing as the bottom of my laundry hamper.
A carefully crafted persona, kept from the press, and coached in each and every thing she says. It can't last. If she doesn't know what the bush Doctrine is, when asked, her retention must not be all that good. Biden will make a laughing stock of her. She already is as far as I'm concerned. Not knowing something as basic to understanding our foreign policy the last eight years, as a Hockey mom is understandable, but not knowing that as a vice presidential candidate, who has been meticulously prepared, is just South of dangerous to our country.

On the rape/incest issue, I read that she instituted a policy that required rape victims to pay a fee before they could get tested of receive aid...Talk about blaming the victim, talk about Taliban type views...They scrapped the bottom of the barrel when the repubs picked this one...

"She has a tendency to dispense with people who think independently...she would govern one of the most diverse populations on the earth." Here is the crux of the matter. From the moment I saw Palin at the convention, I sensed negativity. I would admire assertiveness in a female public figure, but this woman had an air of something on which I can not put into words. I think the Sarah Palin choice is like the Clarence Thomas choice: a certain kind of GOP operative thumbing their noses at the group they are supposedly putting forward.
This would have been a great year for Gov. Palin to keynote the St. Paul convention, like Obama four years ago. Do some campaigning, see if she has the capacity to think fifty states and worldwide. That's the difference between her and Obama. People have been telling him for twenty years "you could be the first black president" -- and he has thought America and the world for a long time. Sarah might get through this okay, or she might be ruined -- become a has-been before she really finds herself.
But cynical, yes, it was cynical on the part of McCain and company.
Janet is absolutely right, the survival of the human species depends on protecting other species that we rely on to survive. Palin and others like her, have a self-serving attitude, that somehow believing any species, getting in the way of her own selfish agenda should be wiped out. Who appointed her to play God, she is constantly pushing, she is a Christian, however what Christian believes God created this earth, for one to greedily and selfishly plunder and destroy. I believe all species, which are gifted to this earth serves a vital purpose.
I believe killing and destroying other living species for trophies or another feeling they are an inconvieniece should be a crime. To geedily plunder and destroy the enviroment for monetary gains also should be a crime.
I realize some resources must be utilized in reason, however for people like her, enough is never enough, they only want more. It is simply greed! What about conserving and leaving something for the future generations. No they want it all!
My little girl, only 7 years old has just entered my office to kiss me and say goodnight. She ask me who are you talking to mama and why? I explained to her what is being discussed. After seemingly understanding, she ask me to please give this message to all, who will listen. After listening and watching her tiny sincere face, I felt compelled to share it, I believe her little innocent plea says it all....
"Please mama tell people this, mama than I bet they will listen! Please stop killing the animals, we love animals, we need them. Please stop cutting down all the trees and killing nature, we will not be able to breath or live. She said, "Please plant a little tree to help the earth." Do it for me and all the kids. Cause we kids care about you and everyone!"
I agree with Eve. Sarah Palin´s right wing extremism and lack of knowledge is a dangerous combination. What´s worse, as the last few days has proven, she´s a royal slimebucket, casting aspersions on the other candidate like a one woman whispering campaign. For me, she´s pure filth. And vindictive to boot.
