IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL IT'S OVER
Like many people I know, I too believe this Presidential election to be a major crossroads event. The idea of four more years of unenlighted leadership makes me cringe. And the preposterous notion that Sara Palin could possibly be the President is too frightening to contemplate.
Until Sarah Palin got into the race, most people were ready to concede the point that the presidency and surely the congress was the Democrat's race to lose. As of the last week all of this is up for grabs.
Contributing further to my deepening concern is the obnoxious "Rovian" tactics employed to mystify, confuse, befuddle voters no matter how distorted, fanciful, and outright deceptive they are. Anything goes in the name of winning the election: the end justifies the means. {I had thought that the Republicans were anti communist}.
Thus if the momentum shifts back to the Democrats I would put nothing past the Republican strategists to employ whatever they need to do to hold onto the seat of -at least - presidential power. An example of one such nefarious dealing follows.
Speculation 1: Â
I think most voters are probably unaware of President Bush's executive order that in times of national emergency the adminstration in power continues in power if the election results are not finalized.
An ominous part of an alleged plan reported in Radar Magazine titled The Last Roundup - is the following material written by Christopher Ketcham 09/12/08:
"According to a senior government official who served with high-level security clearances in five administrations, "There exists a database of Americans, who, often for the slightest and most trivial reason, are considered unfriendly, and who, in a time of panic, might be incarcerated. The database can identify and locate perceived 'enemies of the state' almost instantaneously." He and other sources tell Radar that the database is sometimes referred to by the code name Main Core. One knowledgeable source claims that 8 million Americans are now listed in Main Core as potentially suspect. In the event of a national emergency, these people could be subject to everything from heightened surveillance and tracking to direct questioning and possibly even detention.
Of course, federal law is somewhat vague as to what might constitute a "national emergency." Executive orders issued over the past three decades define it as a "natural disaster, military attack, [or] technological or other emergency," while Department of Defense documents include eventualities like "riots, acts of violence, insurrections, unlawful obstructions or assemblages, [and] disorder prejudicial to public law and order." According to one news report, even "national opposition to U.S. military invasion abroad" could be a trigger."
Speculation 2 -
If the Democrats can't shift the momentum back in their favor they will have to employ some radical strategy that will have the same stunning surprise as was the choice of Sarah Palin to be V.P.
In this connection I find yesterdays' quotation by Joe Biden to be more than curious.

Sen. Joe Biden at a campaign stop in Nashua, N.H., Wednesday
Democratic vice presidential nominee Joe Biden veered wildly off message Wednesday, telling a town hall meeting in New Hampshire that the former First Lady might have been a smarter pick than him for No. 2.
Said Biden: "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America - let's get that straight," Biden said testily after a voter said he was "very pleased" that Democratic nominee Barack Obama had chosen him instead of Clinton.
"She is qualified to be President of the United States of America, she's easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America and, quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me," the Delaware senator added forcefully. "I mean that sincerely, she is first- rate."
I know Biden has a reputation of saying odd things at times but this is much more than a one line gaffe. Could he be sending out a trial baloon? Could it be that if the polls don't turn around that Biden will withdraw probably for family reasons and Hillary will take his place?
In this oddest of presidential elections nothing would surprise me at this point. I suggest we all fasten our seat belts and hold on tight.

As far as what the Administration will do in these next few months, history says that there is no limit to what people will do to retain power. The United States is not imune to human temptation. If it happened there it can happen here.
I have been saying for a long time that if Obama did not pick Clinton as his running mate, he was making a mistake. I still think so.
I'm betting on Obama still to win because despite McCain's obvious prostituting, Obama is far better at making bigger more outrageous promises without anyone caring just how far out they really are. Also Obama has too much of the press and money people backing him.
Once in office, all these dark plans of the Bush administration will remain in place because Obama will say that he's a much better person morally and most of you Obamaites will nod your heads and say yes, those laws/plans are no threat now. Its only a threat when your party is not in charge....
Don't you see the reoccuring theme here? Bad, bad party in power. They are doing all these evil things but we're the good guys (the out party). But little changes once the party changeover happens. The only laws Clinton overturned for instance were ones that restricted union dues collection...he kept all the national security ones many Dems complained about and he was given a pass because now the nice Dems were in power. Bush expanded the scope and largess of the Federal government despite his party bitching for years about that. Never mind stopping the nation building/overseas meddling Clinton was so fond of....Most of them were ok with that because they were now in charge.
So a President Obama will change little and none of the things you worry about will get any attention because the Dems are in charge and now everything is fine. More regulation and taxes is the only thing that will change until the Repubs take over sometime in the near future and who knows what they'll promise to attend to but forget....
