Lately I have been playing with charts of various aspects of the economy and a couple of people have mentioned the national debt.
Here goes!
After World War II, the national debt was relatively flat until midway though the Ford administration. Then it skyrocketed.
Viewed as a % of GDP, national debt was actually declining until 1974.
