Right after the little Anna's hummingbird "sat for his portraits" with me yesterday, I was walking back to the house when I spied this little, tiny dragonfly come to rest on a pebble in the driveway... For some reason, I was having a great deal of trouble focusing the camera on him so I only got a few shots but, the ones that did come out were pretty interesting -- I thought... Check 'em out:

This last one's my favorite... :o)

Look at those EYES! Pretty cool, huh? ;o)
I can't resist throwing in this "bonus photo" that I took of a very busy, little bee gathering pollen from my as-yet unidentified species of South African succulent flowers:

I say "very busy" because, if you look at his legs, you can tell that these flowers weren't his FIRST stop of the day! ;o)
I hope you enjoyed the photos I took of the dragonfly -- just another marcher in the seemingly endless parade of Nature that regularly troops through the "wild hinterlands" of Cloverdale here in our little corner of Sonoma County, Northern California!
luv,
jean

U wishing you laughter
And thank YOU, Quinn, for taking the time to look at them and comment! In this case, however, yesterday, right after I was having such a hard time focusing on the dragonfly, the low-battery indicator on my Canon came on and started flashing... I'm pretty sure that was the problem as I have experienced the same thing 3 or 4 times, now -- but I've had the same thing happen to me as you describe where I was trying to get photos of some special subject that I'd been pursuing for awhile and had numerous opportunities to get some really good shot of them but then 2 or 3 different things went wrong and I totally blew it... (like accidentally hitting the "off" button instead of the "shutter" button... DUH.)
Wanna hear something weird, though?
Every time I've been especially interested in getting shots of a particular bird or animal and failed at it -- miserably -- 2 or 3 times in a row, a few days later (so far, without FAIL), out of the blue, a "photo op" of that EXACT bird or animal will present itself that is ALWAYS far BETTER than any that I "blew" before!!
It's happened, now, at LEAST 10 or 15 TIMES since I bought the Canon...
It's almost as if "the powers that be" are saying: "Not yet... There'll be a better opportunity soon... Just be patient..."
I SWEAR that the sheer number of times this has happened to me in the last few months is beginning to add up to a statistic that is WAY beyond what one would expect to chalk up to "chance"... Strange, huh?
Thanks, Amber!
Cool, huh, Monica? Thanks!
Been there, my friend Tinch... and HOW...
