This song by Ten Years After was released in 1971 in the midst of the Viet Nam War. If you listen to the song and read the lyrics you will see how far we have come and how very little things have changed...
I'd Love To Change The World
Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
Population keeps on breeding
Nation bleeding, still more feeding economy
Life is funny, skies are sunny
Bees make honey, who needs money, Monopoly
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you
World pollution, there's no solution
Institution, electrocution
Just black and white, rich or poor
Them and us, stop the war
I'd love to change the world
But I don't know what to do
So I'll leave it up to you

The Who and "We won't get fooled again" is appropriate indeed.
"teenage wasteland, teenage wasteland..............I'm sure it's the Who.......

Knights In White Satin

"Lucky Man" EL&P........
Because we didn't make it happen.
Your welcome!
(In the year 2525 if man is still alive....)
Brought to mind another great tune "Homesick" By ARS.
The Who (Baba O'Riely)
I have a feeling that if this world doesn't make changes now, we will continue making the same mistakes in this country and world and be in the same place we are now. Changes that can never come if we continue making the same old mistakes over and over again.
Hey you coming down for the fair? Need a date?? I'm free if you'll let me know when you're coming...
I guess I had to face reality and had to know that at anytime or anyday death could be knocking at our door to let us know that my Dad had been killed in the war. Luckily that was not the case but that doesn't stop the pain from remembering watching the news each and every evening when they showed clips of the war and my siblings, mother and I would keep a keen eye on those clips hoping to get a glimpse of my Dad over there.
To think that this country has learned nothing and the powers that be in control of all of our future's and has our fate in his hand.
A scary thought indeed.
Thanks for the kind words.
It's more than a feeling. It's going to be physically impossible to be in the same place we are now. This country is being destroyed from within at the federal, and worse, the local level. Many people don't understand what has happened to our govt. as is evident by all the believers that choosing a new president is going to make any difference. This country is being led down the path of self destruction and the majority are skipping merrily along the way.
Maybe I will repost it tomorrow.
Yes maybe.
Children of tomorrow live in the tears that fall today
Will the sunrise of tomorrow bring in peace in any way
Must they live in constant shadow of atomic fear
Can they win the fight for peace or will they disappear?
(ozzy)
What is to become of us and our country is my question?
All I can think of doing is praying.
I like all the songs mentioned, here, but Creedance, really does it for me, most. John Fogarty, or, The Beatles, Revolution.
Too many freeze with fear and for many it's not fear but paranoid delusions. Following the wolf in sheep's clothing.
What is to become of us and our country is my question?
Do you really want to have that discussion?
I opted out of a discussion on your other post because I read the other persons articles and comments to other's articles and knew it was a futile point and wished to avoid their sarcasm and name calling. My comment struck a nerve with them for good reason. They are a surface reader and don't read links that people post to support what they are saying. The funny part about it is that they have answered their own question to me while responding to someone else.
All I can think of doing is praying.
That's good but according to the Bible not really enough. I'm not really a religious person but have spent years reading and studying the Bible(s) and while the Bible says it's good to pray it is also full of commands and actions. Go, do, get, lead, build, sew. reap, plow, gather, protect, conquer.. ... sacrifice.
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
9 What profit has he that works in that wherein he labors? 10 I have seen the travail, which God has given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.
11 He has made every thing beautiful in his time: also he has set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God makes from the beginning to the end.
12I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. 13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labor, it is the gift of God. 14 I know that, whatever God does, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before him. 15 That which has been is now; and that which is to be has already been; and God requires that which is past.
16 And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there. 17 I said in my heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work. 18 I said in my heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts. 19 For that which befalls the sons of men befalls beasts; even one thing befalls them: as the one dies, so dies the other; yes, they have all one breath; so that a man has no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity. 20 All go to one place; all are of the dust, and all turn to dust again. 21 Who knows the spirit of man that goes upward, and the spirit of the beast that goes downward to the earth? 22 Why I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him to see what shall be after him?
What are the fair dates. And I would absolutely love a day-long date with you. It's been twenty years since my last Texas State Fair and my companion that day was a 17-year old, long haired blonde, long legs too. But I don't recall she had anything close to your gorgeous smile. I've got to see if I can schedule a short trip to Dallas around my work schedule. It's be so nice to hold your hand finally. LOL
The fair starts on Sept.26 through the third week in October I think. We'll talk.
In regards to Neil Young, I absolutely love him! I own everything by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and almost everything that Neil Young ever released on his own. I love the way he sings and have loved watching him live.
I know almost everything by the Moody Blues also and did know that the song was called "Legend of a Mind about Timothy Leary. I posted the lyrics to that song on one of my recent posts.
I appreciate your opinions on this topic.
