My poor Thumby kitty!!

Poor kitty....I've heard hemingway cats have more health problems than other cats, but it is good that you are taking care of her. Sorry it costs so much!

Poor girl. It sounds like you will be going through a frustrating time with her illness. It will not only take time, but also quite a bit of money to get her back on track. I wish you all well.

I'm so sorry that your kitty is ill, the vet bills can mount so fast. Hope she gets well soon, she may be grieving on top of all her health problems.

Awww, poor kitty! I hope she gets well very soon. Vet bills are expensive, but I think a necessity. Bless you for taking such good care of your kitties.

Mine don't go to the vet. They all have either feline AIDS or feline infectious peritonitis so they are never allowed outside, eat prescription food to prevent bladderstones, are given hairball treatment regularly (two are longhaired) and if I notice anything 'wrong' or 'off' I take their temperature immediately. (I used to work as a veterinary assistant). High levels of stress and exposure to other animals--particularly an environment with sick cats in it--could set them off into the downward spiral of active illness. So far, the shorthair male is 12, the long-haired male is 9 and the Persian female is 7 1/2. The males are neutered but the female is not spayed--the stress of the surgery could kill her (she's the one with AIDS.) So, no new kittens because of the disease exposure risk (in both directions), which really is sad because I have such a great 'cat culture' with these personalities. I would love to have a kitten around for them to raise and indoctrinate with the household rules they've worked out. Like, first one to Mama's lap owns the pillow behind her head when she goes to sleep...and, Sundays are for peacock feathers and catnip...and, Mama doesn't like it when you try to bite during the nail trim, so don't do it.

When I walk in the door in the evening, one of them is in the window looking for me and the other is on the top of the bookcase beside the door waiting for a 'cheek bump'. The third is waiting in the doorway, to lead the way to the bedroom so they can supervise me while I change.

I am very grateful for their continued good health, love, companionship and affection.

How sad for poor Thumbelina. I hope she is better soon. Vets sure are expensive but at least it is something you can take care of. That's not always the case.

Sorry to hear you are having such a hard time with her health, but it's a good thing you caught these issues before they became either irreversible or far more expensive.

It's worth the money to have the unconditional love you get from these animals.

OH poor little baby. My Simease has athma and the steroids gave her sugar so between the Vet bills and the injections that we had to give her home, it was really expensive too. I would do it all over again though. She is like part of the family

I'm sorry to hear kitty is sick. That's defintely no fun. We spent a ton at the vets office earlier this year between two kitties. I know how bad those bills can be. Hopefully she gets better soon.

I feel guilt because my Frisky, who i had to have put down in 2003, had kidney disease and lost 1/2 his 18 lbs. I took him to the vet and when they told me what it was, and i would have to do I.V. fluids daily, adn all the crap he would have to go through, AND the cost, I just took him home. The day he no longer wanted to drink or eat, I took him to be put down. He was almost 19 tyears old, and it never gets easier to have to do that to a pet. The guilt comes from thinking about the cost. Looking back, I would eat PBJ the rest of my life to have him back. I adopted my present 3 two months after Frisky passed. I would spare NO cost nowto protect my 4 babies . Live and learn I guess. I a so glad thumby's is so treatable!

What a cute kitty! And she's so lucky to have you taking care of her. Vet bills are terrible. They are usually always unexpected, and usually more then you expect to pay when you go in! I hope Thumbalina keeps improving :-) I know your dad is so happy knowing she's being taken care of!

Awe!! I know the feeling. My big fat white cat Cracker was my dad's also..she was a stray that he fed and let stay in our garage. He passed away 5 yrs ago and Cracker knew it and was very depressed. She didn't come down out of our garage for weeks! and even once she did every time she heard the side door of our house open she would come running as if it were my dad. Cracker is now an indoor cat and loving it! she's been living with me ever since.

Awww poor baby. I know what it's like, between 3 surgeries, meds and all kinds of tests on Gray, in one year it cost me over $4,000. and I didn't have kitty insurance. I do now and she's fine. LOL

We have to take care of our babies. She's a sweetie and your dad is resting even better knowing he has to wait for his baby to join him. I know he's happy she'll be with you longer, it keeps him in your heat as well.

Hope the next set of tests find her in better health and you can reduce the meds she needs. With the thyroid, she'll need them always.

Wooaaa...sorry to hear that Robin. Well, I know Thumbelina can make it if she knows you were always there beside her. And probably your dad would love what he sees from you too! I hope Thumbelina will gettting better soon!!!
