Thumbelina is the cat I adopted for my Dad's b-day about 5 years ago. She is a Hemingway cat and has extra toes like mittens;)He loved her so much!! After Dad passed,(11/27/07), I took Thumbelina in with my other 3. She had been losing weight so I took her to the Vet Saturday. She was 9 lbs and was down to 7.2. The Dr said her heartrate was high and suspected over active thyroid. After bloodwork, the thyroid test was off the charts! Also, white cell count was up, ahe had a bladder infection. Another test came back indicating either parasites or allergies. That particular test doesn't say which, but we treated her with a de-wormer, as well as taking some home for my other 3 (just in case!!) None of them ever go outdoors, but i'd rather be safe than sorry! So between the thyroid meds, the antibiotic , the de wormers, AND drops for her chronic eye condition, it cost me $ 287.00!! And I have to have her re tested in 3 weeks to tweak the thyroid meds! But I know my Dad would want her to be taken well care of, I know he knows I'm doing all I can.

When I walk in the door in the evening, one of them is in the window looking for me and the other is on the top of the bookcase beside the door waiting for a 'cheek bump'. The third is waiting in the doorway, to lead the way to the bedroom so they can supervise me while I change.
I am very grateful for their continued good health, love, companionship and affection.
It's worth the money to have the unconditional love you get from these animals.
that's a lot of money.............
We have to take care of our babies. She's a sweetie and your dad is resting even better knowing he has to wait for his baby to join him. I know he's happy she'll be with you longer, it keeps him in your heat as well.
Hope the next set of tests find her in better health and you can reduce the meds she needs. With the thyroid, she'll need them always.
