Read for yourself.
While I do see that Sarah Palin has not come out to support this neither has she come out to condemn it.
While reading this keep in mind what if at some point in time you fall into a catagory that is unacceptable to these people?

*Just a joke people - drop the pitchforks...*
And it's just plain ignorant to stand in the face of scientific evidence and suggest that being gay is a "choice." If the "choice" were reversed, how many heterosexuals could rewire their being to suddenly find themselves sexually attracted to members of their own gender? You could call it "faulty wiring," but the Sarah Palins of the world could never do that, because it would mean saying that God makes mistakes. That simply will not do. So which is it? God created variety in the world, or God made mistakes with a whole bunch of people?
I read this late last night but didnt get a chance to post til now.
When I read the news article I thought of Sharon wise woman and Peter Joseph Swanson.
Sharon is a beautiful spirit with a terrific mind and a true not only womens rights supporter but peoples rights supporter and if these people look at her and see only the fact of her being a lesbian they are missing out on so much more.
And PJS what a talent and just a pleasure to be around. He is one of those people that you know just lights up a room when he walks into it.
And this church is sitting there telling me that there is something wrong with these 2 people.
I mean, first we had the whole Rev. Wright debacle. You'd think that the GOP would've been smart enough NOT to open their own can of worms. But maybe they really do think we're stupid.
What am I saying "maybe"?
Actually, it's probably a very calculated move to bait the Democrats into criticizing Palin based on her minister's words and beliefs - so they can then turn around and yell, "See? Hypocrites." I wonder when Palin will distance herself from her minister?
If their prayer was going to work, it would have worked a long time ago. The prayer for conversion is a rues, to put s seemingly peaceful spin, on their hidden vicious nature. Given half a chance these people would be openly burning, at the stake, people who do not conform to their agenda, which is domination, not peace, not love, not hopefulness, or equality, or compassion.
These people are every bit as murderous as the Taliban, but here in America, they don't have the Taliban power. But, they do seek it.
Mabe palin could hire a lot of gay people to build gods pipeline then when finished she could march them into the see as her god demands.
Just a thought.
And this is the problem with extremism. It is the cult like insistence that everybody must play the game as the cultist describe it. How anyone who believes in the strategy of dominionism is worthy of a place as valuable to America as the Vice Presidency is beyond my ability to comprehend.
Terrible thing is that history has proven that while the reasonable people sit back and say it can't happen to their country, the cultists are taking over without objection.
That is one person I truly feel sorry for..how must she feel being told how bad it is to be her.
Family values candidates my ass.

Sheryl,
The vast majority of people in this country react not to facts and/or reason, they react to soundbites. Bumper-sticker philosophy. I put part of the blame USA Today and news. mcnuggets. So many people claim to want change but the reality is, the change that they want is to go backwards in time. They want to return to a time when America was the worlds sole "free" superpower and most people were gleefully willing to accept what their government said and did. To a time when gay folk stay closeted. Any one who made noise was branded a "commie" and shunned. Although they clamor for less government, they want a Big Poppa government to shield them for the some of the ugliness that hangs out there in reality. The Constitution has been absconded and burned right in front of us and yet so many people see this as "as long as we're God's favored nation and I can get home to American Idol and my microwave popcorn then all is right in America. If everything's alright in America, then all's right in the world".
They want Big Poppa whether they want to admit it or not.
I fear for the future of this nation.
The Republicans appear to have a platform that says, "We know you're stupid, prove it!" If America falls into line with that, what does that say about our future, let alone the next four years?
hope you dont get sick
pray that no one will realize you dont have insurance if you do.
We have become so apathetic and lazy in this country. I fear for the future of this nation, too. And fear for my children's future if leaders like Palin are put at the head of our government. They no more represent me and my values than someone from Mars.
I have got to run be back later.
I think I typed that very same sentence yesterday too.... : )
Ah, the glories of being one of the minorities it's still OK to degrade.
"Terrible thing is that history has proven that while the reasonable people sit back and say it can't happen to their country, the cultists are taking over without objection." Sheryl O
This is why I am ashamed. And this is why I have chosen to act...somehow and in some fruitful way. What can one do? Write an e-mail to one's congressperson? Stand on the street corner and preach like a doomsday cultist? March around in the streets and carry a hand written sign pleading for change? Write a few opinion posts on Gather?
I have joined the ACLU. It may not seem like a giant effort, and it really isn't, but I want to be heard. I want my freedoms and liberties protected and I want my stolen rights back. I want our Constitution to be honored. The only way to get the dimwitted, holier than thou, elected officials to listen is to take those bastards to court. The ACLU is the only path I can think to take. The ACLU multiples an individual effort by more than 500 thousand but it also organizes, focuses and acts. It is the loudest form of protest that produces results. I do not agree with every thing the UCLU does, but I agree 100% with the effort.
If anybody can suggest a better way to protect the Constitution...please tell me. Other wise, go to ACLU.com and join, donate a few bucks and be proud that you finally did more than bitch and moan.

Google her. Let's talk about a religious mess when you do just a little research on her.
It was an Assembly of God that she left.
Steph not sure what you mean.
In 1949, Assembly of God severed ties because of their zealot agenda.
What matters here are Governor Palin's actions in government (the real ones, not the ones you've read about on the Daily Kos or the Huffington Post) and not her personal faith to which she is fully entitled without yours or anyone else's harassment!
Yes...Palin is fully entitled to her beliefs and her religion. The problem is that she is associated with two churches, both of whom have announced their mission of what amounts to government takeover...the Third Wave of the Holy Spirit or the New Apostolic Reformation....a Joel's Army of Christian soldiers being trained to take over the United States and the world.
The fact that Palin is a candidate for a federal elected office makes her religion everyone's concern if that religion could be a threat to our Constitution.
You may call the effort of inquiry anything you please Fariba, but when Palin stepped into the arena of an elected public office..everything about her that can affect her job performance is open for scrutiny.
If you will recall, John Kennedy was asked to define his ability to act as our President without HIS religion becoming a part of his decision making process. Here is what he said in part:
"I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute--where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote--where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference--and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the President who might appoint him or the people who might elect him.
I believe in an America that is officially neither Catholic, Protestant nor Jewish--where no public official either requests or accepts instructions on public policy from the Pope, the National Council of Churches or any other ecclesiastical source--where no religious body seeks to impose its will directly or indirectly upon the general populace or the public acts of its officials--and where religious liberty is so indivisible that an act against one church is treated as an act against all."
I won't harass anyone for their personal faith in God. Nope. Won't do it. I will call into question any church that actively seeks the "end times". I will call into question any church that supports intolerance or seeks to impose its will on someone else. I will call into question any Christian who appears to use their faith as a tool to get elected. And I could care less be they Republican, Democrat...whatever. It has always seemed to me, the ones of the greatest faith are the ones who live it, not shout it from the rooftops or wear it on their sleeves so that others can say "Wow. I'll vote for him/her because they go to the same sort of church as me!!!"
But no, I will not harass anyone for their personal faith.
I don't like people who try to convert other people. I had a rather ugly experience with some Mormon Missionaries (my husband's Mormon, I'm not, WE TOTALLY AGREE!!!), when they tried to convert me, and I ended up telling them off, with full support of my husband.
This GAY conversion is even SCARIER than that!!!! YIKES!
People need to leave people alone, and let them choose for themselves.
She's trying to spotlight a hypocrisy - we conservatives raked Obama over the coals for the actions of his minister, Rev. Wright.
The difference, here, as far as I can see is that Obama's minister was not only his church's leader, but a close, personal, confidante of the Senator's.
As far as I have seen, Palin had no such ties with her former church's minister (I went to factcheck.org, and found she'd left this church in 2002).
There is no parallel, no comparison, no dice.
The UCC encourages congregants to think - it doesn't tell them HOW they MUST think, or be damned to Hell.
I have no idea about this issue with her prior pentecostal church she attended years earlier. That Pastor was interviewed too, but the subject not discussed.
Anyway, I think it was a Greta Van Susteren(?) interview if interested.
Which Pastor John? Her present one?
The one she attended until 2002, the Wasilla Assembly of God, has shut down part of it's website. She grew up in this church. From ABC news...

"Web Site With Speeches and Sermons From Palin's Former Church Shuts Down as Religious Views of Candidate Face Scrutiny
September 03, 2008 12:38 PM
Officials of Gov. Sarah Palin's former church, Wasilla Assembly of God, in Alaska, shut down part of their Web site Wednesday, stating that their server could not handle the higher-than-normal traffic.
The part of the Web site no longer functioning appears to be the section where the sermons of senior Pastor Ed Kalnins were available, including one from 2004 -- after Palin left the church -- where he suggested heaven wasn't necessarily in the cards for anyone who voted for Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.
Also no longer available is the video of a speech Palin delivered in June at the graduation service for the church's School of Ministry.
"WasillaAG.net was never intended to handle the traffic it has received in the last few days," says a message on the church Web site. "Due to technical limitations, WasillaAG.net will be unavailable for the immediate future."
Palin attended Wasilla Assembly of God from her teenage years through 2002. She and her family now attend Wasilla Bible Church."
As to her prior Pentecostal ties...here is an enlightening article by By ERIC GORSKI and RACHEL ZOLL for the AP.. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jCeGgS4vbVt6qpxTpahCgGn_R-dQD92VOKVG0
This is a quote from that article,
"I was baptized Catholic as a newborn and then my family started going to nondenominational churches throughout our life," she (Palin) said. She did not mention her longtime association with the Assemblies of God, which claims nearly 3 million members and is one of the biggest Pentecostal groups in the U.S.
Grant Wacker, an expert in Pentecostalism at Duke Divinity School in Durham, N.C., said he can understand why. He said the McCain campaign likely doesn't want Palin associated with the best-known Pentecostal to ever hold public office, former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, an active member of the Assemblies of God.
"Though Pentecostals are diverse and rapidly mainstreaming themselves, the public still perceives them as sectarian and uncompromising, and those traits will not help Palin's image," Wacker said.
Palin was baptized as a teenager in Alaska at the Wasilla Assembly of God, which she and her family attended until 2002."
And despite my discomfiture with it, I cannot condemn what nature has decreed. Nor can I deny to those who are born that way, the opportunities life offers to others.
I didn't see anything suggesting wholesale kidnapping of all possible sinners and confining them to the church until they repented... :-P
