I will pick a man that has some experience and principles. A man that has served his country proudly, not one that insults America and associates with terrorist and convicts. Militant - You're assessment is accurate that Palin is an embarrassment to the campaign after being picked based purely on political calculus. Unfortunately, no one bothered to think about whether they were calculating correctly.
It's odd how timing in politics can make a person slip in to such a high office without having to go through the same campaign rigors as everybody else. She is being "Snuck" in. Or they think. She'll get beat up between now and November and the Republicans will call it "those sexist liberals".
Even if I was comfortable with McCain as President, I am not and cannot be comfortable with Palin in that office. It is important to comfortable that any VP candidate could "take over", but statistics make this one particularly important -- and David is right, she is an embarassment.

I saw the church video before they were removed from the church website where she asserts that not only is the war in Iraq God's will, but building the pipeline was God's will. If Palin is scary then Obama is terrifying and he'll be president from day one while Palin may never get that far. Which is the lesser of two evils? Mccain by far.

Ideals aside, and time will tell here soon, I find it all somehow refreshing. I look forward now to debates and interviews etc., and hope she does well. She has only been selected for a about a week or so, and all her efforts have been concentrated in Alaska; give it a few weeks. I need more info too. Come on, MM! How much policy is the VP involved with? Still, I hope she gets McCain to "flip" on ANWR. It's politics. If she runs at the top of the ticket, you can vote against her. If people vote for McCain because of her, that's their mistake to make.
You might also look beyond the positions that you disagree with her on, and see if you agree with her on some issues. She's good on energy policy, and we don't know much about her foreign policy ideas, other than she's probably a hawk. We may never know her views on all the issues.

Any one of us could be hit by a bus tomorrow. Become sick and die, so the Vice President pick is of the highest importance. If the president is for any reason unable to fulfill the role, the Vice President steps in. When looking at Vice presidents we need to look at them as possible presidential potential. It would be a shame to ignore this fact.
As I listen to all the arguments and the public rhetoric and the discriptions of who some think some are just have to wonder. Those who are so against Obama for whatever reason they give to me must be missing something. Since the republicans are the most to blame for all the problems this country is suffering and the sick condition we face how can anyone look to a republican to correct it. Mc Cain at times has shown independence enough to be workable but in recent years he has been a shadow of Bush by his own admission. So how can anyone feel he can or will even try to corect the high rate of unemployment we have. Since he admits he knows little about economics how does anyone suspect he can address the huge debt we have or the low valued dollar?
