'John McCain Hates Gamers'

lol how come it is John McCain's friends, and definitely Barack Obama's friends, that are doing more harm to their candidates then the opposing party is doing this year?

I think there's plenty of blame on the lefties side. So you found an example of a McCain supporter and took the time to point it out? Now, maybe I should show you the hate the left spews.

Honestly, this couldn’t have come at a more opportune time. So let’s go to the executive summary of “What were they thinking” on the Coast or Dummies and Design 2007 – 2008. In the past year, Wizards of the Coast announced a new edition of D&D known as 4E. They no longer supported the very open “Open Game License” preferring a more closed game license which many third party publishers said “no thanks” to. They then created this horror of a MySpace for gamers called “Gleemax.” They then proceeded to make an organizational change and then alienated every person who ever used their messaging boards. One of their employees published her own book on women in gaming. (Well I suppose one good thing was inevitable.)

The result of this year of chaos; Gleemax was killed after one year of “alpha.” The big mover of the changes in the forums finally moved to greener pastures. Many third party publishers are working on variants of 3E still under the OGL or discovering that they can indeed make things compatible with 4E without having to use the new GSL.

Yes sir this was the best thing to hit WotC all year. They managed to get out a press report and get the gaming faithful to rally around something for a change. This is especially ironic because D&D started out as a geek game played by war gamers and WotC has been sending out games to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan for years. They are not playing “in their mother’s basements” they are playing in the tents of military camps of US solders all over the world.

The untoward language was most appropriate. Goldfarb (and McCain) aren't in touch at all.

He doesn't hate gamers, he didn't even say it one of his staffers said it. But still it shows how out of touch he is with the world, there are thousands if not millions of gamers out there.

This election is getting sillier by the minute.

Yeah Austin, I think it's all these communities of folks, the gamers, cell phone users, avid bloggers, etc...who are not among the communities covered by pollsters.

It gives me great hope that the election results will show a landslide for Obama.

So, everyone who plays D&D is a apparently an unemployed coward. They should check out the number of working adults in their late 30 to late 40s who still play D&D on paper or online. A lot of my friends and colleagues in the computer and engineering fields play D&D to destress.. These are the people McCain has insulted. The people that keep government, banking, transportation, and business systems running.

I do find the attitude ignorant and insulting, but it still won't cause me to vote for Obama the Socialist. Thankfully we still have Libertarians and write-ins. :)

I think McCain, in allowing this kind of attack, has proven to all of us gamers out here what his true race and character class is: a gnome illusionist. As for alignment: is Chaotic Stupid an option?
