Two Fridays ago we got the itch to finally get sod down in our front yard. It's a tiny yard that had 3 patches of rocks. We wanted to put grass down in the two spots close to the house and eventually put some sort of planter with wood chips in the spot near the street. That will have to wait until we can afford it...possibly next spring?!
Anyhow, I went to the HD to get 14 bags of compost Friday afternoon. Saturday morning Desi and Hope picked up 22 rolls of sod, borrowed our neighbors rototiller and off to work we went.

Jerome who lives next door helped Desi for hours pull out large and medium sized roots from the left patch in front of our house. The next day, Desi helped Jerome lay down a flagstone path from the sidewalk to the street on his property. It's great to be able to trade labor with neighbors!

The finished product! Beautiful lawn that we have to stay off of for the next few weeks! We allowed ourselves a few moments to lay on the new lawn and enjoy our hard work.

With both sides it's about 220 sq feet. We'll look for a used push mower to cut the grass. I'm so excited to have our own lawn to use. There's nothing like laying down in the grass when the weather is lovely...so much better than sitting in little rocks! We've got it all blocked off with orange string to keep the kids off while we water the heck out of it every am and pm.

I'll post a better after pic when I get the chance. Thanks to everyone who helped (neighbors and friends)! We're so blessed to be able to get the lawn in after having dirt there for months!
