She aimed for perfection,
but it was always too high,
just outside of her reach.
In desperation, she would fall
back to earth,
feeling helpless and unworthy.
But God, in His mercy
reached down to her,
offering His hand,
telling her perfection
is not a condition of love,
nor a part of His plan.
Love for self
Love for others
Love for God
does not always come
in a perfect package.
Most often it comes
in the plainest of wrappings,
almost always with a
wrinkle or stain or tear.
It is riddled with mistakes,
paved with tears,
and the strength of love
comes not from perfection...
It comes from a forgiving heart.

If you don't mind, I'll copy your poem with name and date attached of course. I've never heard this addressed before and know it will come in handy.
Thank you so much.
PS I'll even put your picture with it. :)
This is great. And even though I find that my heart is usually not forgiving, I can WILL it to be such.
