Announcement: Launch of the Gather Book Club

Hello All,

I'm excited to announce the first meeting of the Gather Book Club on Tuesday, September 23rd @ 9PM ET in Books.gather.com. We'll be discussing the bestseller, Water for Elephants over a 3 to 4 week period.

I was thrilled to find out how many people are excited to join their fellow Gather members for book club sessions! Unfortunately I only have a limited number of books to giveaway. If I did not contact you about receiving a free copy of Water for Elephants, please note that this is not an "exclusive club". Any member on Gather can join the discussions. If you were not contacted about getting a free book, I encourage you to buy a copy. It can be purchased for a discounted price on Amazon.com.

Book club meetings will include interesting discussions, COFFEE-MATE prizes, and most of all, FUN! And of course some surprises here and there.

Sounds fun, but I won't be able too just yet. Maybe I can join for the next book. I am teaching/facilitation a writing group at my local senior citizen center.

This is a book I've been meaning to read, anyhow. Do i understand correctly that the chat is only that first night, and later days won't be chat but just regular comments? I hope so because I can't participate that late in the evening.

My mother really liked this book. She's very intelligent, but our book tastes don't usually coincide. Sometimes they do, though. We'll see.

Got lucky. Found a copy at my local library's book sale, for a buck fifty. Even though I'm an online bookseller I think I'll hang on to this one. I'd heard good things about it, and giving it a quick perusal it looks like a fun read. I've long been fascinated by circuses, trains and the Depression era--and elephants, of course, are irrisistable. I'll be interested to see if the human characters and the plot are equally compelling. "See you" at the meeting.
