I'll freely admit that big cities are foreign to me no matter what country I'm in. I'm most comfortable in small towns, I adore quaint villages and I'm happiest staying in rural areas. I've seen a good half of the world and never been to New York City. So when we went to Scotland last summer, I could have skipped Glasgow and Edinburgh altogether and been perfectly happy.
That's why I'm so glad that I got to see this magnificent city. As you'll see in the photos below, Edinburgh's delightful buildings, gardens, churches and castle were well worth a trip into town.
I'm no expert on the city, so I'll simply let the photos speak for themselves. I think you'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was!

Oops! The clock tower at St. Cuthbert's Church is not really sideways... Did I mention that these are unedited photos posted for Summerpics?

A Celtic band named St. Cuthbert's Cow played at the Blue Belle Inn for years, so I was very intrigued by this little church we saw in Edinburgh.

And now we're off to see the countryside again... Over the bridge to.... (a drumroll for my husband and all the other Gather golfers here) ...St. Andrews!

For me, big cities are the only place to live and the preferred places to visit! Living in a small ton is my idea of cruel and unusual punishment.
My home city, and I am a proud EDINBURGHER!
