Prairie Dogs and Green Living

The largest prairie dog colony was discovered in 1900 in TX; it was about 100 miles wide, 250 miles long, and home to an estimated 400 million rodents.

We actually saw some wild prairie dogs in the Texas Hill Country. They are really cool!

When I lived in Hobbs, NM, the local college (College of the Southwest) had a huge area of land on campus that was nothing but a gigantic Prairie Dog colony. There were even "Prairie Dog Crossing" signs on the drive into the campus.
