Is it really September already? Can it be true that summer has come and gone, and the fall chill is here to stay? Is the state fair really over? How did I miss this?
Oh, I know - it's because I'm still waist-deep in "Quicksilver" - that book I started with glee last month. I'm still gleeful, and I'm still reading - it's a brick!!! That and work and the vegetable garden seem to be taking up my every last-minute.
So maybe I've missed the last of summer, but you know what? I have a feeling that by the time I finish the Neal Stephenson trilogy, it'll be spring! And I'll be ready for next summer.
So what are you reading as the seasons change? Have the DNC and RNC got you reading newspapers and political blogs? Or are you firmly entrenched in fiction? Or do you find the lines between fact and fiction blurring these days? Dear readers, share your thoughts, your books and your wisdom - I'm all ears!

I have been reading pamphlets from courses about bees, beehives and beehive management, and parts of THE HIVE AND THE HONEY BEE [Dadant & Sons, Publishers of the American Bee Journal]. I hope to soon open a bee hive.
REPAIR: THE IMPULSE TO REPAIR IN A FRAGILE WORLD. [Elizabeth V. Spelman. Beacon Press.] This book is not too precious. I hope to finish reading REPAIR this month.
One paragraph in a 1996 edition of THE INSECTS: AN OUTLINE OF ENTOMOLOGY contains the following spellings: "Bee hive", "honey bee", and, "bee keeper".
REPAIR: THE IMPULSE TO RESTORE IN A FRAGILE WORLD. [Elizabeth V. Spelman. Beacon Press.] After having read one-hundred pages, I recommend this book. I will finish reading REPAIR tonight or tomorrow.
I also just picked up a new copy of an old favorite, My Antonia by Willa Cather. Always a pleasure to read.
I'm really enjoying this book which is full of surprises about why SMELLS, SOUNDS, HORMONES, BEHAVIORS and other biological influences shape our choices when finding lovers and soul-mates.
