Remember that bridge to nowhere Sarah Palin was supposed to have opposed and stopped, since she is a mavericky reformer and soulmate of John McCain?
Well, Andrew Halcro has some interesting quotes, including this:
"Palin said Alaska's congressional delegation worked hard to obtain funding for the bridge as part of a package deal and that she ‘would not stand in the way of the progress toward that bridge."
Ketchikan Daily News 9/2006
Even better, though, is this picture of Palin and her team campaigning in Ketchikan, back when their votes mattered and the bridge was a good thing:

Let's not forget what Sarah Palin said the night she was introduced to the nation as the potential 72 year old heartbeat away from the presidency:
In fact, I told Congress - I told Congress, "Thanks, but no thanks," on that bridge to nowhere.
Well, maybe Sarah Pit Bull is ready to be on the GOP ticket...she has the lying thing down pat.

She did initially support the bridge until she found the costs and a number of other factors were too high.
She slammed Obama on the experience field,it was so true and entertaining to boot.I heard a couple of the democratic analysts saying Obama will have trouble with this. Also noted that she got more votes, in her puny little town of wasilla, for mayor than Biden got running for president.
I'm not sure if you're upset that she did the right thing for American, that she bucked her state's rep. senator, or that she refused money that any governor would gladly have taken. What she did was great. Good for you Gov. Sarah Palin.
Bottom line is that when the money was in her hand, she did the right thing; and when Obama found out he could get more money in his hands, he threw out his word.
don't you think?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin, who wants to be Commander in Chief after McCain dies, says that the American military is on a mission from God?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin cut funds to help teenage mothers?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin lied about having foreign policy experience with a "visit" to Ireland?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin abused her power to have her enemies fired?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin tried to get books censored from a public library because they didn't agree with her religion?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin cut food bank funding in half?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin is in the back pocket of Big Oil, just like George W. Bush and Dick Cheney?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin says that a fossil fuel pipeline is the will of God?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin has no national political experience at all?
Is it a little thing that Sarah Palin doesn't believe in evolution, denies the reality of climate change, and supports abstinence-only education that science has proved exposes an increased number of teenagers to sexually transmited diseases, while failing to get them to stop having sex?
The list goes on, and on, and on. A lot of "little things".
Barack Obama is experienced. He's qualified. He's tested.
Sarah Palin can't even write her own speeches.
What kind of vision would you call that, Kay?
Of course she did great. Of course she is anywhere from OK to terrific depending on what you believe in.
I don't believe Iraq's war is God's war. I don't believe that women should not have the right to decide on their pregnancies. Her and I are way too far on social issues. On economic issues, I don't agree with the GOP in general.
So, no I don't think she would be great for the job based on values and beliefs. You and I argued on Clinton and Obama. You either don't have principles or there is something else deeply rooted in you to not support the democrats. Your vote, your right. Just don't come and try to promote Palin after promoting Clinton.
At least Kay K is consistent. You are not. You make no sense.
You quoted Gloria Steinem millions of times to me. You have to read this http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/commentary/la-oe-steinem4-2008sep04,0,7915118.story
eye q , that she refused money that any governor would gladly have taken.
You may wish to investigate these claims before you go trotting them out there like something resembling FACTS.
The bridge issue dates back several years. Former Republican Gov. Frank Murkowski, who had been an Alaska senator, wanted it built. Stevens and Rep. Don Young, pushed the project through Congress, securing $452 million in a federal transportation bill for two bridges _ the one in Ketchikan and another in Anchorage.
With criticism over earmarks increasing, Congress stripped the provision from the bill, requiring instead that some of the money be used for an airport. Alaska eventually received about half the money. Murkowski and the Legislature redirected all of the money but $60 million in 2006, and Palin has left the remainder untouched to eventually be used to improve access to the island, Palin spokeswoman Sharon Leighow said Sunday.
Hm?, why didn't Sarah return the 60 million to the Federal Government? I'm sure the folks in New Orleans could use it to repair a few bridges in their town.
One more little thing you forgot to mention.
Sarah Palin believe if an eight year old girl is brutally raped and becomes pregnant, she must carry the baby full term, deliver the child and raise the child without assistance from the Government.
Oh yes Richard, that is exactly what the government bureaucracy would have done. [chuckle]
Palin taxed the oil companies and issued rebates to the people of Alaska, hardly in oil's back pocket.
And yes she has had to make tough decisions as a governor involving budgets that Obama has zero knowledge of. That's leadership.
A big whopper. Bidgen "GARNERED" 76,500 VOTES.
In 2004, I don't think he had handlers as a state senator. He delivered what is regarded as one of the best speeches ever delivered in modern times.
Alan dear, 9000 was the media's figure not mine. But hey, I will go with your figure. Still, about 35 million democrat voters did not want him to be president this year, and he was forced out of the race in 1988. What does it say when your own party doesn't want you to be president, and there you are, a heart beat away. Alan, what do the democrats know about Joe Biden that the rest of us don't? Do tell.
And just who is this Bidgen character? Did he get Biden's 76000 votes?
In 2004, I don't think he had handlers as a state senator. He delivered what is regarded as one of the best speeches ever delivered in modern times.
[chuckle] Alan, you must be on whatever Obama was taking when he was in college.
And of course he had help writing his speech, they all have help writing speeches Alan.
Now that's unfair Patti! Everyone knows if Obama loses he will return to Mt. Olympus and take over for Zeus.
ROTFLMAO
rare extremes ???
NOW COMPARE THAT TO HOW MANY TIMES alien space ship landed on the White House lawn ?
Are you actually comparing a tragedy which occurs all too frequently to something that has never occured nor is there any evidence it's anything but a fantasy/figment of man's imagination ?
FOXNEWS.COM HOME > HEALTH > Teen Pregnancy Rate Hits 15-Year High ~ July 11, 2008
Among 34 cases of rape-related pregnancy, the majority occurred among adolescents and resulted from assault by a known, often related perpetrator. Only 11.7% of these victims received immediate medical attention after the assault, and 47.1% received no medical attention related to the rape. A total 32.4% of these victims did not discover they were pregnant until they had already entered the second trimester; 32.2% opted to keep the infant whereas 50% underwent abortion and 5.9% placed the infant for adoption; an additional 11.8% had spontaneous abortion.
The 1,500 or so we have stranded hear waiting for FEMA to get them back home would probably be glad to have a few of those dollars, or even some of the feigned concern they whipped out as an excuse not to have to suffer Bush/Cheney the other night.
obligation to return that money.
As for her extreme 'Anti-Women, save the Rapists Baby, Let the Woman Die' stance,
that's as Pro-Crime Anti Women Sexixt Attitude The COns have set forth yet.
Lets Reward the Rapist and punish the Victim. Good work CON-RONS.
Top that off with the news that Sarah Slept hith her Husbands Best Friend, and I predict a rough First Interview (if they ever let that happen) for Surly Sarah.
Her views ARE Very Extreme, I agree!
I for one wouldn't bother interviewing her unless it
will be conducted by an real reporter, not a 'News Personality, or a Host'.
It IS extreme to allow a rapist to reproduce at the expense of a victims life isn't it?!
Just another free spending CON for you.
So she has not used the 60mil and is holding it to improve access to the island. It is earmarked money for that purpose. What is wrong with that? As to New Orleans they have been given more money than any disaster in history and are still crying for more. Maybe if the people of that city were to get off their duff and do something besides complaign they would be rebuilding instead of complaining. I certianly would re-thnk the idea of re-establishing a city built below sea level. They have already spent enough to build an entire new city OFF the flood plain.
