Orchids from the Georgia Botanical Gardens Athens, Ga...I

I love the Georgia Botanical Gardens located in Athens, Georgia and visit every time I can. In the Visitor's Center they have an area which is just for tropical plants and a wall of nothing but ordhids. I can spend hours there taking photos of the Orchids and other plants and usually come away with from 500 to 1500 photos. Here are some of the Orchids I took pictures of back in June 2008.

How beautiful these orchids are, I couldn't pick a favorite, they happen to be my favorite flower as I am allergic to floral smells, and most orchids don't have a scent at least not a heavy one, have worn them to all my children's and grand children's weddings. just lovely James.

I love your orchid pictures. I was in an Orchid nursery in California many years ago. There were many large greenhouses and some of them were in full bloom. The show was wonderful but an orchid when not in bloom looks like a weed (LOL). This orchid man also experimented with orchids and he was doing what most orchid growers do, he was trying to create the perfect black orchid. He had one that came pretty close to solid black. It had a tiny bit of deep purple in the center and I'll bet that's about as close as anyone will ever come to a completely black orchid. I thought it looked like a dead plant (LOL). I the the ones with pretty colors. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. They are beautiful.
