I was absolutely shocked when John McCain picked Sara Palin as his VP running mate. The Maverick who supported Bush with 95% of his Senate votes picked who? Is she related to Dan Qualye? Does she know how to spell the proper name of a spud? Well, the news filtered out who she was and a long list of GOP operatives got on the national and cable news stations to sing her praises and even Bush, 'The Master of Disaster' said he felt a fondness for her. Aw shucks! She's just a good ol' boy with rock solid Conservative credentials, but, but..., wait a minute, She has what in her closet? An oil drilling kit!!! Well ring the cowbells for there are enough secrets about Sara's present and past to help all news stations to ignore the vital issues of this presidential race until she graciously resigns.
RESIGNS!!! Yes, I believe Sara Palin will resign and that this whole affair has been carefully staged, so the McCain staff can have more negative accusatory information to throw at Obama, so that McCain doesn't have to talk about his ideas for possibly reuniting Czechoslovakia. I can just imagine Sara Palin saying she can't accept the nomination because she was undermined by the name calling Obama machine. When it comes to staging fabrications, the GOP machine is in a class by itself.
All candidates get vetted so we don't end up with someone like Pee Wee Herman wanting us to eat popcorn with him at the movies. There's little doubt the FBI vetted Mrs. Palin and gave this information to the McCain camp. Of course the FBI will decline comment. In the vetting process, John McCain sent 8 trusted staff members to Alaska to check out Mrs. Palin. Gail Phillips, a Republican and former Speaker of the House in Alaska, said she was shocked Mrs. Palin was chosen because of all of the political problems she had. Mrs. Palin's closest associates, political peers and neighbors were not even contacted or asked questions about her character or if she was once a Mouseketeer. Wev Shea, a former Attorney General of Alaska who had recommended Mrs. Palin for the VP slot last March was not contacted.
The fact that Mrs. Palin is under investigation by the Alaska legislature for the firing of Walt Monegan, once the Commissioner of Public Safety, did not raise eyebrows in the vetting process, by itself raises suspicions. This isn't the only blemish on Mrs. Palin and I'm not getting any children involved. I want to know what those eight people John McCain sent were doing? Maybe they were out saving polar bears because it's obvious they did very little investigating. John McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis is rather silent about this. That's very odd.
Here's what I think happened and is happening. John McCain needs to get the far right of the GOP energized if he wants to win. It's very unfortunate, but the best VP choice Mitt Romney has a religion that many on the far right hotly dislike (to put it mildly). McCain also wants to lure women into voting for him. The McCain staff wants Obama and his operatives to say negative things about Mrs. Palin's personal life, so we will feel sympathy for her decision not to accept the nomination and to galvanize people, especially women, into blaming Obama for her decision. It's all a ruse to turn people against Obama and have empathy for Mrs. Palin and John McCain.
All I can say is watch and see. If you like to have your emotions toyed with to get your sympathy, shed a tear because Mrs. Sara Palin will not be McCain's VP choice come November. I wonder if the issues will ever be discussed. I wonder if ABC news can get their facts straight because they said Obama voted against the supplemental bills for our troops, but the Congressional Record clearly shows he voted Aye for every single supplement for funding our troops. Just a fact. Check it out.

My thoughts though are that what McCain finds so appealing about his pick is all of the undrilled oil waiting in her state.
I noticed the lie (among others) about Obama's voting record. I also noticed that when talking about vets and voting they didn't mention that McCain didn't back Obama's Wounded Warrior bill.
Good job raising some questions here William.
Oh and thanks for the chuckles, especially the Pee Wee Herman one. Hell I'm still laughing over that one.
Did you see how all the Stepford Wives were herded into the Florida section by a dude with a name tag that read 'Chad' for her speech.
I was extremely disappointed because she did not mention moose once in her speech.
never made it to Alaska ..they were being guided by Karl Rove over Donner Pass in the Rockies.
never were seen or heard from again..
well Leiberman and Rove did finally make it to the RNC..but no dwarfs...
funny thing ..those two have developed a love of yodeling and digging diamond mines..
started calling each other Dumb Ass and Sleazy..
I know she already got the Botox vote..as her forehead never moves no matter how much gesticulating the speech requires...
oh the tip of the iceberg..
Wilma..LOL she is a funny gal..
and that Elsie..I am writing her name in ..she would be an awesome President of the United States...
Elsie Duggan in 2008..the Gather Party..
William, you are one smart cookie!
Elsie and Sheila are running? Is there going to be a nominating convention at your house? With food? (no sushi for me, thanks.)
And wouldn't it depend on what the 5% of the time he voted against Bush was all about.
"Lies, damn lies, and statistics" comes to mind. I kinda like to hear the specifics.
Seems like most "debates" are just a bunch of party line talking points.
But I kinda hope your idea comes true!
I think you are incorrect on both points in this comment, though: All politicians lie, but our National News (except Fox) usually get things 100% accurate.
Well, if it were diluted with a little truthiness, it might be acceptable.
Palin by all rights should be a feminist, but she isn't. Fundamentalist Christians are delighted over this pick. Being the mother of a disabled child (who is the same age as Bristol Palin), I'd be interested in hearing about what Palin plans to do about enforcing the existing laws that protect Trig's rights to get a free and public education. Somehow I don't think that is forthcoming, because Mrs. Palin thinks high income people pay too much taxes.
Great article, very funny in places, but I don't agree with your conclusion. Mrs. Palin performed well in the "talent competition" of the RNC! In a country that voted for GWB not once but TWICE, it shows that there is no underestimating the gullibility of the American public. Hence McCain will stick to his choice.
I'm just glad Hillary is no longer running anywhere. That woman scares the dickens out of me!
Not with my vote, but they could.
