We are... WOW Belly Dance!
A little bit about us... We are group based out of Monroe County, WI formed in July 2007. WOW is filled with a variety of woman and while each individual member may have years of experience or just alittle, we are having a wonderful time developing ourselves as a new and tenacious group.The purpose of our Belly Dance Society is to foster the art of Middle Eastern dance in Monroe County, WI by creating opportunities for dancers to share and broaden their knowledge, by staging performances for the wider community and by providing peer mentoring for our beginner group.
Belly Dance comes from various folk dances throughout the Middle East. As it has been passed on through generations and traveled around the world, we have seen many changes, though one thing remains.... the subtlety, power and grace of the female is celebrated through the dance. In the beginning it was a dance women did for each other in celebration. It is in this spirit women can be both sensuous and empowered at the same moment.
♥ Belly dancing is one of the oldest forms of dance in the world and has been practiced for thousands of years. A specific place or time of orgination has never been determined, but it has roots in various acient cultures of India, the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean regions ♥
