Yesterday I took a little stroll through the yard with my camera in hand...it was a gorgeous, sunny day and I think I got a few really good shots...

Nothing sunnier than an Alamanda shrub

A blue ginger blooming in the shady area of the driveway

A beautiful coleus

A red Anthurium by the driveway

Azaleas bloom in Hawaii all year long. They aren't completely covered in blooms like they do on the mainland in Spring, but bloom nevertheless.

A yellow ginger in the shade. This variety of ginger, as well as the white ginger gives forth an entoxicatingly, glorious perfume.

By the time I got closer to the house, it had started to rain, with the sun still shining. If you look closely you can see the rain falling. The plant with the broad leaves is a banana tree.
I have another batch of photos from this walk which I will share later.
Enjoy and come walk with me!

I gave up on Alamandas this year. They are just too high maintenance for me. Hah! I have Coleus just like yours :-)!!! My Basjoo bananas however will probably never get as tall or as prolific as yours. My white ginger (Cammias) never bloomed this year. I think our summer heat was just too short in supply. :-(
I love seeing your flowers thru your lens, Sonia. Thanks for the chance!
And I gave you credit when my friends asked where I'd gotten the recipe. You now have extra stalk -- I mean, fans here in Kansas. ;-)
Duckie my dear, what can I tell you....? Sorry you are having troubles with some of your tropicals....I guess it is hard for them growing in the 'wilds of Illinois'.... ;-)
Joy, my dear....thank you for bringing me more stalk......I mean fans LOL Glad everyone enjoyed the Arroz Imperial recipe.... I don't know what it is about that dish that everyone who tries it seems to like it....
Aaron, thank you!.....our shared afinity to cobalt blue extends even to flowers!
Thank you. I am enjoying my camera tremenduosly and it seems I don't have to get too far away from the comforts of home to do it... ;-))) It is glorious to have all of these and more around us. I will try to get the rest of the pics posted sometime later today or evening.
Thanks for sharing them with us.
Looking forward to the bougatsa recipe tomorrow!
