Media Starts Mommy War Over Sarah Palin

This attack on Palin's daughter is a new low for the media that I thought had already sunk as far as they could. Tthe children of politicians are OFF limits. Caroline Kennedy has made a big fuss about being a privarte person., A reporter was suspended for saying that Chelsea Clinton was pimping for her mother and Al Gore's son had a DUI just before the Democratic Convention in 2001.

Bristol Palin is off limits and anyone who attacks this child is in need of counseling.

MSM is as corrupted as Sen. Obama. When it comes to Resco, Wright, Ayers,etc, MSM has kept ignoring. And of course Sen. Obama is qualified as POTUS because he was once a community organizer. Of course Sen. Obama is a brother's keeper even though his half brother lives in a hut in Kenya.

It's like this Gary they talk forked tongue so much they believe it to be the truth of GOD...but unfortunatly GOD didn't make them say or do those things...that the sad reality of the truth...She tried to hide the fact her daughter was pregnant and only came out so cause blogs were talking about it...Where is the absentience??????so called moral values now????This goes to character if you want to be called family value this lowers your creditability.

I kind of agree with you there, Delores. I haven't heard anyone ridiculing the father in this case. It's a battle working mothers will always face. I'm not too concerned about Bristol at this point, her mom's the governor, she'll be just fine.

I saw Solidad O'somebody this morning on CNN asking stupid questions about whether Palin can take care of her children and be vice president, asking about McCain's age and such. This is just stupid journalism gone bad. How can she even ask those questions with a straight face and think we the viewer will even take it seriously? Women have jobs, have kids and their families do well. It's up to the women to make the choice as to what is right for them and their family. In fact, I think I heard on some program that Sarah Palin went to college to get her degree in journalism. I think she will be a force to be reckoned with if they keep going after her and her daughter. She's probably thinking, "Bring it on!". I would be if I were her.

Oh, one more thought. Who derided Joe Biden when his wife and daugher we killed in a car wreck and he continued to care for his boys and kept his office in Washington. Wasn't he spread kind of thinly? No, it wasn't an issue, he's a man. It's stupid to think that a woman can't relate to her family, kids, and run a nation, or have a job all at the same time. That's a double-standard folks, and it's time it stops now.

I look forward to seeing McCain and Palin in office in January of next year and shake up things in Washington and put them straight. This is an unstoppable team and I think it's really great!!! We need them to keep our defenses strong, build our economy, tackle energy, reduce the size of government, and bring sensible solutions to problems without over-taxing us all into oblivion, contrary to the other team of Obama/Biden.

No one attacked Biden while he was a single father because he could do what many single mothers cannot do--hire a babysitter with the higher salary he makes, as a man.

I'm still disturbed by the embrace of an out-of-wedlock teen pregnancy by the Republicans. The reality is that most teenage girls become sexually active because they are pressured by their boyfriends. She's pregnant at 17, but became sexually active at what age? In some states, this would be a criminal matter. In most cases, the couple doesn't marry. The girl ends up caring for the baby alone. When they do marry, they typically divorce early. I don't think we should all just sigh and say "teenagers have sex", as if this was inevitable. I do question the parenting in this case. We are just making it easier for kids to say, "Everyone is doing it!"

We had an epidemic in our area of middle school kids having oral sex, always girls "servicing" boys (to put it crudely). We are allowing this to become acceptable behavior.

I favor comprehensive sex education. I hope this kills off "abstinence only" education. Evangelicals love marriage, but don't seem to care about the problem of divorce. The more conservative the state, the higher the rate of divorce. Ultra-liberal Massachusetts has one of the lowest rates of teenage pregnancy and divorce!

Divorce is one of the leading causes of poverty among women and children. This is a true issue for feminist!

Gary, if you do some exploring, you'll discover some horrible articles (rants, actually) about how Governor Palin is not fit to serve and it has nothing to do with her policies and everything to do with being a mother...and they're written by other women.

Isn't that a telling statement though. Fox does, indeed, have it right. Family can be family in so many different ways. Who said there has to be only one right way?

It is such a shame all these horrible rants about Gov. Palin throughout Gatherdom, attacking her motherhood, ability as a parent, etc. I don't remember these issues coming out for other candidates. Why now?

I support Gov. Palin as a mother, a woman, a grand-mother, a wife, and a governor. I think its great she's able to handle these various things, and I respect her decisions and I think her personal life should be off-limits. Family is family - and it has nothing at ALL to do with running for the VP of the US. It's just a smokescreen for not asking REAL questions about what kind of policies she would implement, and her core philosophies about how to SUPPORT families, economically and socially. Her gender does not matter - except that it is great to see a woman candidate. I would like to see this board - and a national discussion, of her views on ISSUES - not these terrible attacks on the family lives of Palin, McCain, Biden OR Obama. And for the record, I think that Biden and Obama are pretty good models of FATHERS - which doesn't seem to be mentioned in these vitriolic attacks.

More importantly, I do NOT support GOv. Palin's views on the Iraq war (which she calls a war called by God?), her connection to the very frightening religious/political movements like the Dominionist church, to JewsforJesus, which are not religious groups as much as very radical (and violent) right wing political movements, her views on the environment (it is there to be exploited, and we have no responsibility to help the planet we all live on -despite the big ice shelf crashing off in Canada this week) , on the economy, her budget cuts to sex education and shelters for teens, her firing of the police chief because he wouldn't keep the bars open till 5:30, her attack on the town librarian because Sarah wanted the power to censor books herself, he questionable interference with various legal procedures, her pork barrel earmarks for Alaska, AND her support of the Alaska First secessionist party.

How about discussing these issues, and not the sex/ baby / rumours?

I dont hate her. I just think we should not have a VP who ignores science and states that creationism is what she believes and wants to have a as part of our school curriculm. It's not only wrong, it's dangerous.

I too, have been offended by some of the posts/comments here that basically say that her place is in the home. I am even more shocked to see that those thoughts are from women!

How in the heck can be break that glass ceiling people talk about when even women run around making sure that it stays?

I thought Jon Stewart's coverage of this on Wednesday night about nailed it. This is refreshing though as I didn't think Republicans knew what the word sexism meant. And maybe they still don't. I say watch the clip, it's readily available on the internet. And then take Sarah Palin at her own word. Now that we've shattered the myth that she has a perfect family, I don't really care about all the details either. Let's talk about the issues.

This is Day 7. When is she going to be ready to take a reporter's question?

2. Define Victory in Iraq.
