It seems people are looking for jobs no matter where in the world they live. Fast food places use to be a sure place to get a job til something with more pay came available. But fast food places now are turning more and more people away because of the slow economy. I use to be able to look in the paper and find three pages of ads looking for people to employ. Now I am lucky if I see a half of page of want ads of open position available.
What kind of jobs seem to be hiring in your area?

Wow! The employment section used to be a section on its own, and it is stuck in the business pages now. Still, for us, this is always the down time of the year. Our main profit centers are agriculture, tourism and the Cal State University. It isn't harvest time and the University doesn't start until later this month, so that is normal. Tourism is down though.
There is a State Park near here that is always packed on the long weekends and I saw on the news that their attendance was down 45,000 from last year this weekend.
Tons of elder care type positions though, you are right!
Defense, electronics, and computer companies, banking, and health are all hiring here. Retail not so much.
