Everybody is looking and they are finding stuff.
According to Huffington, "Ed Kalnins, the senior pastor of Wasilla Assembly of God since 1999, offers a provocative and, for some, eyebrow-raising sketch of Palin's longtime spiritual home."
Pastor Kalnins has also preached that critics of President Bush will be banished to hell; questioned whether people who voted for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 would be accepted to heaven; charged that the 9/11 terrorist attacks and war in Iraq were part of a war "contending for your faith;" and said that Jesus "operated from that position of war mode."
There you go. If you voted for Kerry, you don't have a visa to enter heaven.
More quotes from the Pastor:
Berfore the 2004 elections:
"I'm not going tell you who to vote for, but if you vote for this particular person, I question your salvation. I'm sorry." Kalnins added: "If every Christian will vote righteously, it would be a landslide every time."
On Katrina criticism of Bush
"I hate criticisms towards the President," he said, "because it's like criticisms towards the pastor -- it's almost like, it's not going to get you anywhere, you know, except for hell. That's what it'll get you."
Don't want to steal Huffington's stuff. Get over there and read more.

The Alaskan Independence Party
Does supporting secession from the United States disqualify one from being vice president?
Forget the vice presidency: does Sarah Palin even want to be an American?
Ironic though, in its own way.
Get out there what each one's pastor say. Hopefully we will all agree that what Pastors say should be off. Until then get it out there.
This guy is a lunatic. How could she go there Sunday after Sunday? A guy who "sends" people to hell based on how they vote.
But the other part of me thinks this is another irony of the Palin VP selection and really wants to see how the Repubs on gather justify Palin and her pastor.
No evidence that she was ever a Muslim is there?
Now she IS a US citizen right...she wasnt born in Canada right? And was her mother over 18 when she was born?
And were both of her parents born in Alaska....if yes then are they "natural born citizens"? Alaska wasnt a state til 1959...makes you wonder.
OK the vindictive part of me is laughing.

For those of you too young to remember, Tom Eagleton was removed from the ticket because of his past. Sarah Palin seems to be following in Tom's footsteps.....
Gawd, this is entertaining as hell, isn't it? Thank you, Johnny McBush!
Too effing good to be true. Dig it up. The more you dig, the more you find. And it's not rosy!

I disliked the attempts to paint Obama as having some secret scary thoughts based on sentences by a pastor taken out of context -- both literally and culturally -- and attributed to his belief system like osmosis goes on when people listened to a sermon. God, would it were so, this would be a beautiful world. But it isn't. People sit there and think about what they are going to have for lunch. So, this is a tree I'm not going to bark up unless this stuff comes out of her mouth or is manifested in her policy statements.
There are already more than enough reasons to be alarmed without excavating her church background.
1) Force the delusional wingnuts to realize that the ticket that they were suddenly so excited about it utterly pathetic.
2) Expose them as hypocrites once again.
Yes, there are absolutely more than enough reasons to denounce her as a VP selection, but this one is every bit as worthy as the others, imo.
What I think would be fair would be an interview in which Palin is confronted with the text and asked to respond. I hear she is not speaking to the press unless Dick Cheney can come, too. ;)
Also condoms on discount 12 to a package, just in case. Well so much for family values.
"Gezz whezz Bristol you could of waiting until we were in the White House."

It's got Pastor Kalnins reading Sarah Palin's Official Statement without any of the kooky stuff!
"He preaches repeatedly about the "end times" or "last days," an apocalyptic prophesy held by a small but vocal group of Christian leaders."
Simply not true. Belief in the "end of days" or "end times" is fundamental and scripturally based. End-times prophecy is contained within not only Revelation, but Daniel, Isaiah, the Gospels, and 1st Thessalonians.
"What you see in a terrorist -- that's called the invisible enemy. There has always been an invisible enemy. What you see in Iraq, basically, is a manifestation of what's going on in this unseen world called the spirit world. ... We need to think like Jesus thinks. We are in a time and a season of war, and we need to think like that. We need to develop that instinct. We need to develop as believers the instinct that we are at war, and that war is contending for your faith. ... Jesus called us to die."
That's radical stuff... because Jesus was a radical. He said things like, "I came not to bring peace, but a sword." This war is spiritual and nonviolent.
Francis, you don't know anything about Jesus.
