GATHER MGMT.: Don't you think that being timed-out FOUR TIMES (not to mention SEVEN HOURS of my time) is just BIT TOO MUCH?!

Yes... It took me SEVEN HOURS -- after being timed-out FOUR TIMES -- to publish my latest photo-essay on Burbank's Farm... (and it only HAS, like, 10 photos in it!!!)

I am asking you:

DON'T YOU THINK THINK THAT'S JUST A BIT TOO MUCH FOR ONE PERSON TO BEAR WITHOUT PULLING EVERY LAST HAIR OUT OF THEIR HEAD IN FRUSTRATION?!?!?

The trick is to click the button that says "keep me signed in". This happened to me yesterday too though :-( It took me 6-8 hours to do one photoessay on California Adventure and I thought that essay was going to be a snap.

Try to do a reboot on your system. I've noticed that the GeoTag thing is bogging my system down, so my browser itself is having problems if I don't do a shut down each night now.

I was able to create 19 photo essays today, posting 18 of them to myself. I didn't have one bit of trouble with any of them. Seems like the problems are selective and don't affect everyone the same.

I had that happen to me several times when I wrote soemthing and lost it once I hit submit. So frustrating. Kevin clued me into the keep me logged in at all times box. Beautiful things, but now I forget to log out and when other ppl sign into gather I need to worry about them playing around in my account.

Thanks, Princess... but I'm on DIAL-UP so I don't keep my computer on... In fact, my computer gets totally shut down, probably, 3 or 4 times a day and I have it set NOT to hold ANY webpages in memory... The IE file completely empties when I shut the browser down...Heck, those "animated" ads on both the TOP AND the side, now, have been bogging mine down for MONTHS! No... It's because whoever designed the "new version" of Gather didn't allow enough time for poor slobs like ME on dial-up to actually LOAD a bunch of photos and still be able to get back to publish an article afterwards... They're all on high-speed cable connections I would imagine...

Rob, you probably have a high-speed connection, no? We can't get that out here in the "wild hinterlands"... It's simply NOT available...

I keep signed in, Sophie, but, as I said, I shut down several times a day... I've never had any problems with anyone getting into my gather account... I mean why would they WANT to? Besides, it's not like anybody's going to get any "priority passwords" or anything off of MY computer... I don't have a bank account OR any credit cards!

I didn't know about the keep me logged in box.
But, I can tell you that my article on the scenic river cruise I posted a couple of days ago cost me 5 to 7 hours and I even tried to save, log out and log in again - no matter what I did - it just wouldn't save the article or the pictures.

If you have IE set not to keep cookies, then that's your problem right there. Selecting to stay signed in is a cookie, and by not allowing them, it won't keep the setting. You'd have to temporarily allow cookies for it to let you stay on.
