Her daughter's pregnancy is none of my business. It should not be a topic of the campaign at all. Even if the VP herself has a child when she was 17, I could not care less.
However, it has been the intention of the McCain camp to sell us the perfect family package all along. They started successfully on Friday. You can disagree with Palin's views but you can't help to like the total package. That was going to work.
The GOP has been wrapping Palin as the perfect family (wo)- man. You could not listen to the MSM for one minute without hearing them regurgitate what the McCain camp gave them since they don't know her. She has five kids, she was a beauty queen, a popular high school athlete, she is a hockey mom, husband does this and that, blah, blah-blah, blah-blah.
They were selling the family. Votes and Ca$h in form of donations were the currency. That's a fact. McCain is going to some groups and is trying to appeal to them through "family values." Mom, dad, raising kids, succeeding - The American Dream!
For the past 72 hours before this news, she has been using her personal life as some kind of patronizing, holier-than-thou badge. The Palin family was to be the model American family. The McCain camp was planning on countering "the reclaiming the American Dream" theme from the Obama by presenting a typical American family to be the standard everyone was going to be measured against.
Let's go back to healthcare, the war in Iraq, and the economy. We have not heard of the issues since Friday. It has been all about nonsense. The McCain camp was on its way to distract people once again with abstract nonsense.
Hopefully, now we can talk about the issues again. Hopefully they can avail Palin to the media for specific questions on foreign polic (Iraq, Iran, Russia,...), the economy, social issues, and much more.

Back to the issues.
A. Foreign Policy - both agree
B. Illegal entry into the US -- both agree
C. Economy - Neither one even knows how to spell it
D. Taxes - One wants to raise taxes and so does the other while both claim to want to cut taxes.
