...colored toilet paper?

Don't laugh! Okay, if you must, laugh.

I remember many years ago when toilet paper was available in a variety of pastel colors that would coordinate with the color of the bathroom. My mom used to make a big deal about coordinating the color. I didn't as much but I must admit that I did my share of yellow for the yellow bathroom and blue for the blue bathroom. When I could only find pink, which is not my favorite color, I'd go ahead and get it and call it a match to the pink tile.

Somewhere between the 80's and the 00's, color toilet paper disappeared. Now we only have white, although I did see white with little pink flowers at the store a couple of weeks ago. Why did color T.P. disappear? Was it cost? Environmental concerns? Just what caused it? Anyone know?

I do know, so many people were developing allergies to the dyes used in making it, that they stopped. I know a great number of people that cannot even use the scented paper that several companies now make. I have two cousins that have severe food allergies due to red and yellow dye, not to the food item. These same dyes were used in a number of other products, such as T.P., I'm not sure if the FDA stopped some of the usage, or if it the colors just faded. ouch, really bad pun
